Had some ahi poke for lunch, and pasteles for dinner. Good, but expensive thanks to inflation. I need to start bringing sandwiches for lunch.

    Dear VirMach Customers,

First of all, we would like to apologize for the short notice on this migration. We are migrating one or more of your services to new Ryzen servers, with newer & faster NVMe SSDs, located at a new datacenter, often with more premium network blend. This should be a significant improvement as we phase out aging hardware.

    What are the benefits?

Up to 230% faster processing speed than our previous Intel Xeon E5 servers, and higher clock rate of 3.4GHz+
Up to 350% faster SSD read & write speed, now using Gen3 & Gen4 NVMe SSDs
Up to 200% faster memory speed, with DDR4 RAM @ 2400MHz to 2666MHz
IPv6 availability, coming soon. You will be able to add an IPv6 address to your service in the coming weeks
More diverse locations, as available, with more servers being added every week. Free location change available.
No price increase whatsoever. You'll receive all these benefits, at the same exact price you usually pay.
    What else will change?

Your service's IPv4 address will be changed.
If your service is currently in Buffalo, by default, it will move to NYC Metro instead.
    How can I migrate/upgrade?

There are three ways to migrate, as outlined below.

Do nothing. No action is required, unless you prefer one of the options below. By default, we will migrate your service on Sunday as scheduled, and we will move your existing data as part of the migration. Your service will boot back up when migration is completed, with a new IP address. You can view your new IP address on your service details page.
Select a location & reserve your new IP. You have the option to select any available location, including your service's existing location, by navigating to your service details page and clicking the available "Ryzen Migrate" button. Here, select your desired location, and select "With Data" to reserve your spot & IP address. This way you can know your future IP address ahead of time, and on Sunday we will migrate your service to your selected location. In some rare cases, if we run out of space, we may elect to migrate you to your original location or a nearby location to your selection.
Move immediately, sooner. You also have the option to migrate to any available location without your data if you do not require it, before Sunday. This allows our system to immediately terminate your existing service and generate a new one in your desired location. Navigate to the service details page, click the "Ryzen Migrate" button, select a location marked with an asterisk, tick the "Without Data" box, and confirm. Please note, if you select this option, all data will be permanently lost, so we recommend first backing up your important files.
    Which serves are affected?

    San Jose: SJKVM10, SJKVM6
    Atlanta: ATLKVM14, ATLKVM5, ATLVKM3
    Seattle: SEAKVM14
    Dallas: DALKVM14
    Buffalo: NY10GKVM100, NYKVM36, NY10GKVM107, NY10GKVM72, NY10GKVM70, NY10GKVM69, NY10GKVM64, NYKVM28, NY10GKVM104, NY10GKVM92
    Amsterdam: AMSKVM8
When is the migration? How long will it take?

The estimated maintenance window is from 12PM to Midnight, PST (Los Angeles time) on Sunday, May 8th, 2022. Please note, we may take longer, but it's also possible that your service will return back online sooner. To avoid this downtime and to select a time more convenient for you, then you may use option #3 above if you do not wish to keep your data.
    What if I'm not migrated?

If migration does not complete, and your old service is still online, it means we ran into issues with the maintenance window and we may send you another email in the future or post on the network status page with an updated date. There's no need to contact us, and in fact, we ask that you refrain from contacting us as we already have a large backlog of support tickets.
You may of course continue to use the immediate option #3 above if you wish to move sooner, and if your data is not important.
    What precautions should I take?

We always recommend backing up your important data, at all times. In this case, we request you take extra precaution to back up your important data in the rare case that something goes wrong.
When you are on your new Ryzen server, it's important to note that while this is brand new hardware and therefore statistically more likely to have a longer life than your previous service, there's a higher likelihood of unexpected events for the first few weeks (similar to purchasing a brand new computer, depending on quality control at the manufacturer.) Therefore, we ask once again that you take extra precaution to back up your important data.
Finally, these new Ryzen servers do not yet have optimal disaster recovery backup set up. This means that there is a higher likelihood that disaster recovery backups will be unavailable, and once again, we ask that you make sure to secure your important data.
While we would usually encourage you to contact us if you have any questions, we ask that you be courteous and please do not create a ticket unless absolutely necessary. We are migrating a high quantity of services and therefore even if a small percentage of customers contact us, we can easily be overloaded, especially while we are spending additional time completing the migrations. If you do create a ticket, please understand that it is possible it takes days or even weeks to get back to you during this time.

Of course, if anything goes wrong after the migration and you are unable to utilize your existing or new service, please first refer to the knowledgebase, and then if you require urgent assistance, please use the priority department with a very descriptive title and troubleshooting information so we can resolve the problem as soon as possible.

Thank you. We apologize for any errors/typos and for the long email.

[Emergency Migration] Your service on GERKVM6

    Dear VirMach customers,

Your service is being temporarily migrated to our new Amsterdam Ryzen nodes. You'll later optionally be able to move back to Frankfurt at a later time. We apologize for the short notice. This migration is beginning immediately as we've noticed an issue with disk health and want to avoid any data loss. Your service will have a new IP address.

Migration should only take about an hour or two.

RIP GerKVM6 - we came such a long way with Ups and Downs over the years.
Temp Emergency Migration to AMS ...yay for Ryzen VerySoon™ :)

(Edit: This is different from the Migration Email above about the Sunday Migrations, and happened just now...
Edit2: Lol ok I see now, as I press refresh, that @JabJab already beat me to it :-D

Edit3: Maybe @Virmach will feel sad when he sees it's only a 5GB SSD and upgrade it to 15GB right? hehe, I wish)

Wait til this somehow turns into a dedicated server in 2083.

Pretty sure at that year you can gamble at lifetime dedicated server! (65 years of service + casual 15-30 years old that people had in 2018) - they will die ASAP.

  • Got migration email for this best : 6GB Ram, 6vCore, 35GB disk, 3IP.

33.33, not really as exciting the FAT32 deal from 2018, but still really nice.

Man, this GERKVM6 migration comes handy for me tbh.

One of the servers that is scheduled for Sunday migration is "in use" (I don't dare say not idler -> https://i.imgur.com/7qWqWgz.png) and I had no idea what to do with that. Could temporary migrate to other host that I bought in 2020 to replace that one... but never decided to do it - and then move it back after migration? Or transfer again to NL or something? Decisions, decisions, decisions and a lot of work.

Now I will be able to move stuff from that server to the emergency migrated GERKVM6 to Ryzen NL and don't do anything on Sunday :D Everything on my timeline (if before Sunday). Only downside is I will probably end with Facebook ban on my (illegal) bot for moving from DE to NL and this is gonna be P I T A :(

GERKVM6 was working for me, but VirMach wanted to transfer the things out of it for years iirc so I never decided to deploy anything there after first mention of killing it :D

@VirMach is GERKVM6 move done? I see new RYZE.AMS-D025.VMS node in SolusVM (node unlocked in billing), yet old (Franfurt) IP assigned. I can click "Reconfigure IP" and hope it will change something... but if it's still in middle of migration I will probably break something :D

I see DHCP still giving that IP, it's not updated in backend :( Will wait like an hour and then go priority ticket :D

lol nice, I've got the same one from 2018 but it's on NY10GKVM102 and not yet up for migration. I already migrated my 2018 LEB OVZ special to Ryzen though, 3C/2048MB/50G for 11.90/yr. I canceled quite a few of my older plans when I got a dedi, glad for the ones I've kept though.

    @ZA_capetown you ended on AMSD025 too? :D
