The provided media converter+router combo I have includes a 10 Gbps copper port (which I have connected to a 10 Gbps switch), so I’m a happy camper (my ISP only offers 3 Gbps symmetrical; I have a third of that, though).

Only?!? Only?!? Faaaack you, I'm jelly. >:)

So in a way this doesn't surprise me for init7.
It's simple. Most of the new switches are 10G/25G on the same port. Just a transceiver change.
For those of us (not me at home) that are lucky enough to get FTTH. Like AT&T 5Gbps. Most people would like it for quick burst downloads but overall they still level out well under 1Gbps sustained. That's the reason why you still see 1TB data caps. That sounds like a crap ton of data but in reality that's only 3.05Mbps/Sustained for the month.

    Do you mean:
25GBps home fibre connection with 1TB data caps?

    We have 10Gbps at 10 eur/month
I use the smallest option of 500Mbit at 6 eur/mo since I don't need to download a lot and 500Mbit is enough for personal use.

    🇷🇴 calin & cociu uplink

did they release it? last time i checked it was a preorder

You missed the part where I cheesed a credit and only pay $50/month to Bell for 1000/750 Mbps.

    :-)

Edit: Excited to see what Rogers ends up doing with their “8 Gbps” meme lol

  • Frontier has 2Gb/s (up/down) Fiber available now but I don't even have the equipment personally atm to utilize that. I also saw an ad this past week for an ISP that isn't in my State that's saying they're getting ready to roll out 10Gb/s fiber. If I had that, I'd probably have to migrate my home storage NAS to large SSDs to handle the traffic.

What that 10G going to cost?

They probably don't have a price to announce yet. The company is Mediacom https://broadbandnow.com/Mediacom-Cable https://mediacomcable.com/products/internet/

Apparently their 1G is $60 but it's not Fiber
