here you go:
the egg is gone now though, but probably appears later on again somewhere ;-)
ths
I hope to find the egg
The egg will find you.
Happy searching ^^
it's been directly on the root server product page for a few times, https://www.netcup-offers.eu/vserver/
seems the eggs cycle every 10 minutes, so pretty sure it will reappear there soon. I think I saw it somewhere else as well, but didn't write down where... sorry.
Like every year. Interesting offers and then you read "billing period 12 months". Nothing with 8,75€ but immediately 105€
Big true. But if you see it in an other aspect, I bought the smallest RS with 1 month period a few days ago. I pay 11 Euros in every month and I got 160 GB SSD. the 9 Eur with 19% WAT is a good offer with 320 GB SSD if someone wants to use it for minimum an year. I have a smaller disk with a higher price but I can cancel it when I want. It is harder with the 12 month period:D
there recently has been a change in german laws that at least renewals can't be another 12 months contract period (different to billing though). so after the initial year the contract indeed changes to a monthly term with according cancellation options.
however, netcup is gonna keep the billing term as agreed upon and prorate refund on early cancellation.
doesn't make it less complicated I'd say, but still going into the right direction for ending a contract earlier at all.
RS Ostern S OST22
Yabs benchmark
Here's the thing. If I get a server for less than half the listed price but with a contract of 12 months, then its ok on my book.
Though billing period should be 1 month. I mean, the contract is already signed for 12 months, then why charge so much up front. Thank God, billing period is 1 month for bigger products for offers. Still sucks for smaller products.
That's the point I don't understand either.
I think expecting a 50%+ reduction just for yearly contract is a bit over the top, wouldn't you agree? I mean their regular offers already belong to the cheapest available anyway, so it seems obvious that 10-20% is already a good thing.
I partially agree on the billing term thing though. I guess they had/have to deal too much with people just stopping payment, so they'll have a threshhold like 50€ min or something like that to go along with based on the size of the product.
if you try looking at it from a providers view, you probably simply do not want all customers at all costs all the time but rather be happy, if some terms keep potentially problematic customers away.
seems to work quite well for them, otherwise they'd changed all of that long time ago.
The 10 to 20% thing is pretty common for sales with monthly contracts. If you are signing me up for 12 months, then it should be better than 10-20%.
Let me give an example, the RS 8000 is a monthly contract with 62.39€ per month. Now, for a offer like Easter/BF, I should be able to get 20% off minimum off on that. Then after that you are also adding a 12 months contract to the offer. I hope you got my point now.
I mean this is a very shitty way of doing business. I get the whole contract thing at all. And also, that people default on their contracts. But, they do a thorough KYC process when onboarding new customers and I have heard they hand it over to collection agencies when someone defaults on their dues. I mean, all you're doing is driving good customers as well. I mean if someone wants a 8 euro server, then most of the time, they probably cannot afford a 100 euro server. Then, how is netcup expecting them to fork out 100 euros at once. This seems like a weird logic.
yeah still, even if you would get 20% for being a promo and another 15% on that for being yearly, you are at 32% total only and therefore far from
the latter simply is unreasonable or at least quite some exaggeration. I hope you got my point now. ;-)
as said, I am with you here... the whole thing with being locked into contract periods is an annoyance around here not only with servers/IT. mobile and power are even worse, often combined with discounted prices during the first one or two years and hikes to 'normal' prices afterwards.
yes, that's probably why they not just bill the full contract period all the time, but break it down to 6 or 3 month for the bigger boxes.
but essentially it indeed also says that they might not be interested in clients that have their 8 bucks on the line each month, because they only barely can afford that.
it's a simple business decision to not want to deal with certain possible target groups. does not have to be logical to us all the time I guess...
Yes, but with servers IF you have stuff that you're willing to host/run for a long time (i.e. more than a year) this is not necessarily a problem, given that it's gonna be harder to hop from provider to provider than with a mobile contract, and - more importantly - that's netcup pricing is pretty damn good for what they offer (hard to find a better deal from a reputable company in EU).
Some of their packages actually out performs alot of more expensive dedicated servers. And here you do not have to worry about hardware, network or any crap like that. It just works.
2.5gbit with 80TB transfer is also great. I use around 40tb / month currently on my netcup vps over the past months.
Exactly!
Yeah. And from my experience their network is pretty good to most places.
Many discount offers are paid annually instead of monthly. Boys, are you really so ... impoverished? They give you discount, you ought to give them something in return for it.
Wow. "Impoverished"? Personal attacks huh. They are giving a discount to boost up their sales. Its a business transaction and not a charity.
When is it wrong to ask for better consumer practices?
Yeah I am impoverished. If you are that rich then you can gift me an annual server. Shouldn't hurt you, since it doesn't really mean much to you ain't it.
This is LET. This word can only be an expression of praise and admiration around here, isn't it?
"Boys" is not a personal attack. Just a sad sigh.
nice deal
I still haven't found this machine!
51,98€ pro Monat NUR
can be found everywhere
How long do they usually take to activate new accounts ? Signed up there and it went to manual verification some hours ago, now I have FOMO
Couple of working days. Have a electric bill, passport and your face ready, they are going to ask for it.
Ohhh it's one of those. #opt-out
Did you see the smallest RS at night? I'm thinking on but since yesterday forenoon I didn't see:D
They didn't ask me for anything. YMMV. I assume that it depends on several factors (or the procedure maybe got harder lately?)
Good question. Interested at well, hard to catch yesterday...
Did you guys catch anything interesting? I haven't been able to find a small VM, and their "VPS Eggcellent" is available too often.
Seems like they'd prefer fewer customers on big VMs rather than many cheapos on small VPSs! Makes sense regarding their IPv4 allocation... and probably regarding steal time as well.
