Andy claims to purchase premium bandwidth from ovh (apparently better than the bandwidth you get renting dedis from ovh directly). This should be the reason why he can consistently get higher port speeds, and not the usual ovh lottery. I don't know how true his claims are.
I imagine this guy is paying 0 taxes and enjoying all sorts of discounts possible. It could be long term commit discounts, affiliate discounts or bank transfer discounts (I believe hetzner has this). I suspect andy doesn't charge taxes to his customers too and his customers don't have to pass the fraud checks on hetzner or show id proof on ovh. For the "isn't really cheap" servers, maybe it makes sense for those who would have to pay vat otherwise.
sys-2 is marketed as 250mbps, and as you said... occasional outburst. You cant really compare that with guaranteed 10gbit.. its un-comparable.
Also his discord prices are outdated, and he does price matches.
as far as hetzner, if i want hetzner, i buy from hetzner, which i did, but hetzner is lower end tier when it comes to peering etc. Most of his customers come for premium stuff like ovh or leaseweb, not hetzner.
Once again, please post links to actual pricing etc, aka make it a fact, like i posted his stuff... or else its fictional, and make sure it is comparable. You cant counter argue by posting a tractor, when i posted ferrari f50. I personally tried various dedicated servers over decade, and been in the sphere since mirc dcc bot days, like late 90s... have not really found better prices than Andy, for France and NL, aka the hot spots of best peering and premium traffic in the world.
I can counter argue your 29e sys-2 250mbs bandwidth (this thread is about bandwidth) vs his Core i3-2130 8GB RAM 2x2TB HDD 1Gbps Unmetered €16. Blows yours out of water.
Your nvme vs his hdd does not matter, as hdd does not bottleneck 1gbit bandwidth. I could go on and on, and on... but my time is precious, just posted my experiences. Andy is a king in seedbox community for a reason.
Sure, but I'm pretty certain that these are just OVH lottery servers or custom deals that his account manage gave.
Even with VAT, all of his Hetzner boxes are more expensive. The only thing you get is more anonymity and maybe more payment options. There's plenty of hosts that will also most likely resell you a Hetzner box at a markup.
Another thing is that Hetzner now accepts a $20 payment which gets given in account credit as verification for most people who aren't ordering via a VPN. I also never had to give ID to Hetzner, OVHCloud, SYS, SYS Ireland, or Kimsufi.
To anyone that isn't trying to hide their identity (most normal LET users), his pricing isn't really out of the ordinary, other than his occasional good deals (like his legacy or custom OVH boxes). That's just my personal opinion.
If your a seedbox user, his pricing will make sense because he offers management. That's why most people buy from Andy10Gbit. Most LET users don't need seedbox management.
A few tricks I learned dealing with Andy and referring people to him over the last couple of years are go to him with your budget/specs, and he will mark down configs to fit your budget.
I've heard of him selling Hetzner configs at -€10 to +€5 markup. About a month ago he had the SX63 and SX133 advertised at -€10 compared to Hetzner's list price.
That is SX63 for €55 in Finland and €60 in Germany. I've seen AX41 and EX42 sold for €40-45. The X3440 LSW config @Advin mentioned, I've seen it advertised for €29 before.
Right now he has some real good configs advertised as well on his discord: https://i.imgur.com/Jj9EjfK.png
The €65 10Gbit is an insane deal. I have these price-matched to €75 for the last 1.5y compared to walker's offer. I just can't be bothered with migrating. The couple of Ryzen's I got in France RBX came with 3Gbit out. It may be the temp burst thing, but I'm not complaining or abusing it.
The low-end OVH servers €16-35/mo, you're more likely to be able to buy those if you order bulk, like 10-20. As far as I can tell, he isn't fond of dealing with low end clients from a bit of banter I've had with him regarding end-user support. He believes low end clients expect too much for too less, which I personally don't disagree with.
And as mentioned above by another user, the Leaseweb section is outdated and he's purposefully left it like that for some reason. Maybe those still sell?!
@Advin List prices always generally include a healthy margin. I'm assuming that is what makes running a reselling business worth it in the first place, considering your pricing for the Hetzner SX63 and SX133
I agree with this sentiment all too much. There's less BS in a $600k/4 month contract (it's mostly just volume) than a 100 dollars/year client.
Not saying I don't enjoy the Lowend client base, I'm happy to work with anyone and help them out in any capacity. But I'm not interested in a rude/bossy/"demanding" 100 dollars/year client who is going to try and post random BS on forums if they don't get their way. The risk calculation just doesn't add up.
Less headaches. Less problems.
This really getting offtopic... Can the discussion about Andy10Gbit be split into a separate thread?
Less than $0.05 on xxx Gbps commits. No Cogent or HE, I recommend avoiding both.
Our average bandwidth price is
8000USD/Gbps
Where?
China - Hong Kong
What are you paying for bandwidth?
@jbiloh - you asked the right question , you are interested about bandwidth price ? I see that all the answers are about speed not about bandwidth ....
If we talk about speed( only provider can answer ) , @interservermike have right:
"For 10GB commits on a two-year term in the United States I would expect to be around $.15 per mbps for a provider such as Zayo, NTT, Comcast, GTT. Cogent in the $.12 per mbps range. HE.Net is doing $.08 for 10gb pot"
These prices are similar in Europe to ( HE and Cogent $.085, NTT and Telia $.12with ...) the mention that you may be required to do some traffic on 100-200Gbps ports( Level3 )
If we talk about _bandwidth _( the customer can answer at what prices the hosting company gives him per MB/TB on his service -VPS or dedicated server )
Depending on the location, it could be from $200 to $800 in some areas.
What is the North American going rate for Cogent?
Something like 10 gbit cdr on a 100 gbit port.
You need to pay $200 to unlock this info.
@jbiloh i would say around $700-1000, depending on your negotiation skills.
I would answer your market research question regarding bandwidth pricing if you buy my newly introduced "Top Market Researcher" rank. Costs 200$ per year. Interested?
If you don't want to share your opinion that's OK. Just looking to get a sense for what folks are paying these days.
Have a good Saturday.
My sense is that it's probably around 8-9 cents right now in most major US markets.
That's about right, depends also on how big your contract is and the location, if your colocating at their datacenter won't be the same price i think like cross connecting.
I thought you were fucking off? There's nobody worse than someone who throws a sissy fit about leaving and then doesn't.
