I have Placed the 4 VPS orders, the system automatic split each one to sub account, when I purchase new vps.

Create support ticket, the support team said they will merge them to my main account, but finial someone refund my 3 VPS without notice me or the agreement they settle.

And I wait weeks, no one give me any updates. it's really unacceptable.

    @VirMach Ticket #509751

The ticket you provided, I don't see that one being cancelled/refunded, it's pending.

    Invoice #1399104 - Ryzen Special 384 LA
    Invoice #1400321 - Ryzen Special 2560 JP
    Invoice #1401040 - STORAGE-250G JP

already been refunded in my sub account, and money had back, when I wait the support team merge VPS. and wait to now.

And I not purchased unreasonable number VPS, just each one for my interesting. it's system auto create sub account for each VPS.

I'm closing off Tokyo pre-orders. Too many people purchasing it and not reading the offer details or just impatient/changing their mind and requesting a refund. Too many questions about it in tickets. It's probably half the ticket requests we received in the last 24 hours. I may put it back in stock after we're more prepared to deal with all the inquiries or it at least gets picked up, but it'll be at the updated prices since most people have had a chance to buy it at the early bird rate.

Of course, a lot of these tickets are valid, it's just skewed toward one location so we're just getting rid of that location for now. I recommend all these people consider ordering Seattle instead since that's immediately available if they want immediate service.

And of course I understand that's not everyone, so if you want a Tokyo pre-order, step one, read this comment. Step two, order it in any other non-instant provisioned location and comment your order ID here, tag me and ask me to manually change it to Tokyo for you. I'll only change it if it's not already provisioned in the other location, so make sure to follow that step correctly. I'll also keep the location open for another hour so last call. For the requested larger 8GB package we've been talking about, I'll allow Tokyo as well. And of course I'll still provide updates for Tokyo, and you can still cancel and request a refund if you change your mind.

I've read your post and placed an order for the SPECIAL 768 in Amsterdam. Could you please change the location to Tokyo? Thanks! @VirMach
    The order number is: 9321225208

@VirMach I know you are very busy. I don't know if there are too many posts. You missed it, so I'm sending it once. Please change the location to Tokyo, thank you!

I entered the solusvm. It shows that"No media found for this virtual server". How long will the problem be solved?

You can power it down and try installing now. Debian 7, 10, 11 should work. CentOS 8 should work.

@cybertech said: its a pity not all are 5950X though. nevertheless still class leading Ryzens.

I only spent maybe 10 hours testing this specifically, but 5900X is better than 5950X in many ways outside of a host cramming in a bunch of people. In every real world situation I could throw at it, it ended up performing better over a long period of time due to these thermal throttles.

5000 series don't play well in 1U rackmount servers, they throttle a lot. And get hot a lot.

I even crammed in a bunch of fans in testing, same thing. I even tried out several different heatsinks, same thing.

It even throttles in my own computer with really good cooling. It just seems like they make it run extreme, so it looks good on all the benchmarks, and then it underclocks after some time, cools off, then goes extreme again. Unless you change the settings and do what I'm mentioning basically. If anyone wants to chime in, feel free. But to me it looks exactly like what a company would do if they wanted to look good on benchmarks.

(edit) They were actually originally going to be 5950's. I have so many of those just laying out there wondering what to do with them. Some servers will still get 5950, but I'm being cautious with the rollout.

(edit2) By the way when I put a bunch of fans, it did go down in temp, but it still throttled. And in some specific overclock modes it did do better for longer but it absolutely killed the power usage efficiency. It really does end up being 5% more performance for 30% more power.

Your heatsink likely isn't rated for the TDP of the CPU or it sucks.

All remaining issues causing existing San Jose, Phoenix, and Seattle not to boot have been resolved and they've been booted. These varied from configuration file problems, to ISO being unavailable which has been unmounted.

If you still have an issue let me know.

    @VirMach said:

@Jack21 said: If there is no chance, can you tell me when I can buy the officially released machine

Once we have more servers around Wednesday, we'll consider posting a sale next Friday. I was going to post a sale this weekend but it's not likely. By next week we should have many more servers available for instant deployment.

More info, feel free to provide feedback. Instead of $11.11 per year (or $8.88 early bird) you'll probably see it be a little bit more memory, and $15. Instead of $20.57 for 1.5GB it will be closer to $30. And instead of $27.31 for 2.5GB it will be closer to 3GB for $45. Then there will be 4GB for around $60 and the 8GB previously discussed in the thread for $88 early bird to $120.

I may ship out 5950X servers with 10GE but we're having some trouble configuring 10GE right now with existing equipment and the module required is out of stock and price-gouged. We may have to look into getting another switch for that. But if we can set that up, then that will also be offered at those prices, 5950X and 10GE and Gen4 NVM. I'd say that's a 25% likelihood. Otherwise, most likely 5900X with Gen4 NVMe.

Tokyo Update - Templates synced, ISO syncing. I'm going to activate about 100 of these now and then set up the other node and activate more later in the day. The activations will be based on order time as previously discussed. We already did the 10 activations as part of testing, that's done.

    Order #555194
    Thanks

It's funny because the heatsink rated for 95 TDP functions better than those advertised for 105+ but that's a whole other can of worms.

With these rackmounts the fans end up being more important in most cases I've noticed though and even with excessive fans (as in fans all over, even ones that would not fit in normal use) the same problem I'm describing exists. So at this point it doesn't really seem to be a "problem" and more of a "feature" on how these function. As in, AMD wants it to get hot and maximize performance and then cut it off however they want by default unless you do a custom configuration as we've done.

I'm not saying our solution is perfect, I was just providing background on why it seems to be necessary and why I believe 5900X will function better than 5950X in this particular use case (something I assume no one thought of because they didn't intend for it to be used this way, in a rackmount server.)

(edit) By the way short version of 95 TDP heatsink theory, I believe the material and design allows it to dissipate heat in a way where it is beneficial for bursts. It's thin aluminum versus bulky copper. But the copper should outperform in normal non-burst 24x7 operations.

While I appreciate the purpose/intention behind a faster deployment, I think others would be upset if I prioritized your order as it is unfair to them. This will most likely be deployed Wednesday or Thursday.

If anyone wants to give up their position for you, have them quote this and let me know. Or if you do need something for evaluation, I can generate a temporary service for 6 hours for you to do your evaluations and then it will be deleted to make room for those in line. Let me know.

  • I have 5950x in my own PC, yeah the heat is issue and most review on net are misleading
The noctua nh-d15 with the open case keep temp at ~86-88C (closed case need huge airflow to keep it under 90C)
5900x is way better as its more easy to cool down and pump more freq
To me looks like all review sites are paid or shills to show the side the company make them do

    Thanked by 1VirMach
