Need some feedback from people getting Amsterdam storage:

    I'd personally rather wait.
It was a preorder after all o:)

    I can wait too.

Tokyo initial few servers and network equipment have been picked up. Current ETA
Amsterdam - I got UPS brokerage service to finally respond. Hoping they continue to respond quickly so we can schedule this properly and have customs clearance. I did not send any individually today as I couldn't get service with customs clearance and don't have anyone there to handle that at the moment. Also speaking with the datacenter. DHL is still scheduled but I haven't heard back from them... so it's not looking good (I've scheduled in the past where this happens and days later they reply and begin talking about the first forms to fill for brokerage.) Ordered motherboard replacement for the storage node, arriving tomorrow.

Hopefully the problems go fast away. So take your time.

New motherboard running into issues after working properly. Maybe it's related to the controller or something else, but it did do better than the last one... But then again, the last one also originally worked and then broke.

Ooh, just saw I got a migration email for one of this year's 2gb black friday servers in San Jose, looks like that impulse purchase really paid off. Some of these servers I've been idling for years are going to end up really impressive if they get migrated.

We fell behind on these unfortunately, some issue with CPU lock on the node they were supposed to go on and everything else also got delayed and broke and I ran out of time.

Will the server migration in SJ be delayed?

Any scheduled today have to be rescheduled.

Would it be possible to get additional IPs for these new offers? If it's possible, what's the limit and how much do they cost? Thanks.

No, sorry. But later on when we have everyone situated we'll probably allow people to buy it for a setup fee plus $0.50/M or around there. That plan can completely change though, it's too early.

This version of the sale is ending Friday.

The 8GB package are being delayed until Friday. I want to post a more organized version of this sale. Please note, this means preorders outside of 8GB package will end on Friday. The 8GB package will become the only one where you can pre-order. Last chance to pre-order at extra discount pricing for all other plans. Next round of sale will be instant deployment only plus storage pre-order only for any storage nodes shipped out by then (so limited locations, maybe none.)

It will include some version of current lineup, the 8GB package, and storage. Many if not all of the prices outside of 8GB package are going up (but still competitive.)

This will also be the last chance to order with possibility of refund or anything below a biennial term length.

Of course, any of the above may change, it's just what's being thought out right now and I want to try to be as clear as possible where possible.

    Update

I'm trying very hard to push out another 100+ nodes this week, in total, shipped. We're changing the strategy up and instead of sending out specific locations at specific times it will be whatever is possible ASAP.

All of the below may easily change, but it's currently planned as approximately:

    • 35 servers to NYC Metro
    • 0-25 servers to Chicago
    • 15-30 servers to Los Angeles
    • 10-25 servers Amsterdam
    • 10-25 servers to Tokyo
    • 10 servers to Dallas

Most of these are already built but need some minor modifications again due to shortages in some parts until I hear back from suppliers. A good amount still need to be built to some degree.

3 palettes/ are currently available, and they're originally meant for

    What's been sent so far?

For those not following the thread so far here's an approximation of what's been done so far and where servers are and what's happening with them.

    • Amsterdam - 0 servers sent, they're ready. Delay: issues with shipping, hardware problems with storage node. PDU arrived. Switch not ready.
    • NYC Metro - 0 servers sent. PDU and switch ready. Servers ready to some degree but these may be heavily modified. We're going to potentially attempt to send a few servers here to get set up by Monday, at the very least. Storage node is going through some modifications.
    • Los Angeles - 3 servers sent, 1 server racked. PDU and switch but switch requires configuration and IPv4 LOA still pending to some degree. Storage node is essentially ready and waiting to be sent with bulk servers.
    • San Jose - all servers sent and racked. PDU and switch ready, everything is online. Two servers have hardware problems. A couple set up. Many require setup.
    • Atlanta - all servers sent and racked. PDU and switch ready, switch is being configured. Will require setup.
    • Denver - a few servers sent, PDU and switch ready but needs setup.
    • Phoenix - half the servers sent, 2 are ready and fully functional, a few more need to be set up/arrived.
    • Seattle - a third to half of the servers sent, a few fully functional, a couple more need to be set up/arrived.
    • Dallas - a few servers sent, awaiting racking on Wednesday (today.) PDU and switch may require setup as well.
    • Dallas2 - PDU set up. Early stages of considering a storage node here.
    • Chicago - still awaiting sales team to finalize contract. Storage node is potentially also being created here.
    • Tokyo - a few servers sent in, arriving Thursday this week, but must go through customs and then requires setup. PDU already set up. Switch shipped in as well, arriving Thursday. Storage node not yet sent but functional and ready.
  • Wait patiently

I have a feeling it will be easy to meet that quota, especially the lower part.

    I should've just put 0's everywhere, darn!

The 0 in Chicago was originally meant for if the sales department doesn't do anything and I have nowhere to send it. But now you're giving me ideas and it'll also be used as a cop-out should I need it (only kidding. Or am I?)

Can you also help me take a look at Ticket #781955 when you have a chance? Phoenix service never worked/boot after it's provisioned.

    Thanks!

Realizing the entire thing might change, but if you do put a storage node in Chicago would we be able to move there? I ordered a NY that I might prefer to be closer.

Paypal have problem? I'm unable to add funds through Paypal.

The payment just stops processing without any message, just "PayPal Error - Virtual Machine Solutions LLC" on tab title.

Ok I managed to get around this. I have to go back and open the invoice generated, and press one time deposit button. The Paypal button above it would produce the same error.

Can you please recap which DCs these refer to? There's 3 INAPs in Dallas, and only one Dallas choice on the special order page, so (a) which one does it map to and (b) why the distinction above?

MJJs cant wait to open the mystery prize.

Everyone is wondering how the network from Tokyo to China would be.

If it is good, VIRMACH, be ready for a huge wave of panic buying.

If it is bad, be ready for a huge wave of PMS and ticket work order and chargeback.

  • I hope that more merchants will notice the network to in China, because this is a very large market. Although there are BWG,BUT, as we all know, their prices are not friendly.

That is not true, for most people the quality of the network in China is not important, and there are more options for the expensive China optimized network, if Virmach chooses the expensive price you will not be happy.

Agreed. MJJs want cheap AND China optimized otherwise they work order then chargeback/start PayPal disputes.
Large market = more hassle dealing with MJJs = more noisy neighbors and even potential abusers for other legit customers.

  • i hope the network to China is bad. i already avoided LA and now have to deal with Tokyo? oh come on

Then see if the merchant is willing to give up Chinese users for you。

Strictly limiting the bandwidth of each vps can avoid abuse.
