Just curious, why it needs so much RAM though? Database? Redis?
geocast dns servers with many different maps. The Maps take up memory but do not use much disk or transfer so VirMach works well.
seems like migration special wont be migrated anyway, i am gonna abandon mine too.
So many GPU in stock actually, but no money
So quiet!
They're all very close to being migrated and some have already been migrated. Unless you're speaking about the dedicated ones?
Speaking of dedis, will there be any plans available in a different datacenter other than ColoCrossing?
They had plans to migrate the e3 boxes to Ryzen/e3 in the same datacenters as the VPS offerings, still waiting for that but I assume they're putting all their focus into moving the VPS customers since that makes up a much larger portion of their business.
Dedicated servers were actually built and ready but unfortunately due to shortages on the chassis and insane price increases from our vendors (2x pricing) we had to empty them out and use them for Ryzen.
So right now they're basically delayed and back to the drawing board.
I feel really bad about this because there's tickets from 3 months ago where I literally almost sent them off and then all of that happened.
The semi-good news is I've been looking a lot into Ryzen builds and I'd say if the dedicated server migration specials miss the deadlines we outlined previously, I always try to make it up to the people that waited. We don't have enough hardware right now for that but prices for Ryzen processors are coming down. Same with the RAM, NVMe. The last part of the equation is just the motherboard and chassis basically otherwise we're prepared to just move these people to Ryzen servers instead without an additional charge. Please assume this is 100% wrong though, I don't want to set expectations even higher and then fail to deliver, I'm only mentioning it here because I usually use this thread for more informal chats about these things. Problem is that the heatsinks, PSU, fans, chassis, rails, and motherboards are high pricing and low availability right now.
I tried making it work with these other boards that are technically "workstation" or for business and have some type of pretend out of band management but nothing that could actually be utilized properly. And any external IPMI/KVM skyrockets the price. For some reason only one manufacturer wants to make Ryzen boards with IPMI so they can essentially charge whatever they want and they're in low stock. The price for the same 2+ year old board has only gone up.
I could maybe slap something together with a raspberry pi but then it'll be a very high workload building and configuring all of them. Plus I haven't read into it too much.
Thanks for the update. I didn't want to ask but I have to say I was dying to know.
Hi, thanks so much for the explanation! I'm fine with waiting in that case, as long as it's still being worked on.
Wow, so much updates I have missed. Hopefully all of them are good.
In other news, Perejilo died today after almost 2 years of sickness.
It's been a long and a sad way since a week when he stopped eating.
Today I got a great hug from him, like he used to do it every single day, but I'm sure today it was stronger; he spent a minute outside in the park stretching and relaxing, and now he's resting forever, without any pain.
No more pain for my loved Perejilo!
Time is something that we do have.
I'm so sorry for your loss @imok. I'm sure Perejilo is waiting patiently at the Rainbow Bridge for when you two can be reunited.
I'm also very sorry for your loss @imok. I know how much you loved Perejilo.
Ops, sad to hear, sorry for your loss
Sorry for your loss @imok
@imok
So sorry to hear about Perejilo
Hope you got to cherish some great times with Perejilo...
May God bless Perejilo soul
@imok
Sorry for your loss @imok
Thank you guys and I'm sorry to spoil the party.
I'm sorry for your loss @imok. I'm relatively recent to the thread but I know Perejilo meant a lot to you. Never easy.
@imok I had hoped to share the stairs with Perejilo some day, sorry to hear that bad news.
Alright, I'm coming back to this thread for now. @imok I saw your post the other day and it was difficult for me to respond as I lost my kitten about two years ago and as a result it's difficult to properly express my condolences. Every time you've posted about him I was reminded of him and it was difficult to say much. I'm sure you made most of the moments left with him, I know I started to when I first heard the news about my cat and when he stopped eating and that was an extremely difficult week in my life so I'm sorry you & him had to go through that as well.
Still need 7 more people to alpha test Tokyo.
Post your order ID here if you're interested. If you are not interested, then [a] do not post, [b] post your invoice ID, [c] post your product ID, or [d] post anything other than your order ID (which probably starts with a "5") -- if you don't have it and you're still interested then let's have a conversation about it, let me know what you plan on doing and confirm that you're basically not going to make me regret it by making 5 tickets about something not working.
To be honest I didn't note down my order ID... and I haven't figure out a way to find it yet after the payment
What's your invoice ID? Your as in you, Fat32, not anyone else who quotes this and provides their invoice ID.
Wow thanks! Invoice ID #1398372
