March 10 (Reuters) - Meta Platforms (FB.O) will allow Facebook and Instagram users in some countries to call for violence against Russians and Russian soldiers in the context of the Ukraine invasion, according to internal emails seen by Reuters on Thursday, in a temporary change to its hate speech policy.

    https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/exclusive-facebook-instagram-temporarily-allow-calls-violence-against-russians-2022-03-10/

Saw that earlier. No idea what they are trying to do with this and seems to be the most retarded thing ever from FB.

  • Calls for violence isn't prohibited? Zuck still play bad game.

The Ministry of Finance officially denied plans to disconnect the country from the world Internet. The ministry explained that they had sent messages to state agencies because of foreign cyberattacks to which Russian websites are exposed. It just contains "a set of the simplest recommendations for cyber hygiene." They will help to organize work effectively and protect information resources from hackers. Disconnecting the country from the World Wide Web is not part of the Government's plans.

  • Is it even possible for Russian gov to "disconnect" the internet / stop datacentres for communicating with outside world?
Wouldn't they like control all physical cables to do that? or..?

I'm sorry, but I don't have a very technical insight of what's possible or not.
I guess this is the wrong board to ask such question. I apologize.

Are you brain-dead or lobotomized calling president Putin 'Putler'? FYI: In WWII millions upon millions of Russians lost their life fighting the Nazis. Russia lost by far more people than all other allies combined. And you (and some other lobotomized morons) put their president next to Hitler?

Thanks. Would you mind to elaborate a little on how this can be done? Must they control all physical cables and cut them off to the rest or the world, or can it be done in any other way? Are there any kind of "kill-switch" which the government can use to disconnects all datacentres from the rest of the world? or are they totally depended on all datacentres following their orders to disconnect?
    Sorry for being a n00b.

A simple govt. order would promptly make this happen, or you think people will risk imprisonment? It's not that hard to figure out which places have transit outside the country.

You sound a little butthurt. Perhaps eat a McDouble? Or have a coke? Or even a Pepsi?? Or drink some Starbucks? Or play some games? Or get some money?

    Oh right. You can't. 😂

    No the problem is there.

You can't tell a rudimentary Photoshop fail when you see one.

The high contrast over-colorized swastika flag with no softened cross shadows and extremely bad feathering. The extended right arm looking almost 3d, with no refine & dodge. Probably done by some 15 yr old in less than 20 minutes.

All of my grandkids can do better. Way better. My son, (now the very old pro), said that it would be absolutely hilarious if anybody believed this.

Except it isn't hilarious at all, is it?

Wait, are YOU 15 yrs old?

  • @bark said: You can't tell a rudimentary Photoshop fail when you see one.

That real pic from Donbass in 2014. There no any photoshop entries. You can see that on German movie on YouTube.

  • @cadddr said: A simple govt. order would promptly make this happen, or you think people will risk imprisonment? It's not that hard to figure out which places have transit outside the country.

Okey, so the only way this can happen is that all DCs comply with the gov orders? There's no other "simple" way for the gov to shut down foreign internet transit, there's no "kill switch" button that a government can use?

  • @jenkki said: We have a lot of Chinese manufacturers here such a Huawei or Xiaomi who replace them in full for much lower prices for their products.

It will trigger secondory sanctions if they sold you US products (CPU, both Computers and mobiles). Just like Huawei. China will not do this for Russia. Even you can buy, there will be a huge make up price for the risk they take, most likely double or triple. You will need to buy a Mi phone with price of iPhone.
And what can you use to buy? oil? Russia's oil distribution is mainly in Europe and not close to China, it also takes years to build new oil pipelines to transport oil.

My guess is most of the sanctions will keep at least 5 years. Until Russia is no longer possible to start another war.

Полк Азов I guess? The U.S. Congress has ruled that military aid cannot be given to Полк Азов since 2008. Around 10% of them are believe in new Nazi. It is real, Racism(Nazi) is not going away. "Fascism" more correctly.
But cmon, Zelenskyy himself is Jewish. People with new Nazi tendencies have never been in the Ukrainian Parliament. In contrast, check who is Yevgeny prigozhin and his tattoo.
This is as ridiculous as US claim someone had weapons of mass destruction. Officials can state this, but don't insulting peoples intelligence.

They fail to mention that at one point Russia had the biggest amount of neo Nazis in Europe. There was even an documentary about it but I can't be arsed to look for it.

C'm'on. Being a victim one day does not preclude anyone from turning into a persecutor the next day. Having ultimately and successfully crushed German nazism does not make the whole country and its whole population and descendants forever immune to far-right leanings or military-imperialistic views...
(Routine comparisons to nazism or Hitler or yaddi-yadda are frequently far-fetched, excessive, or disingenuous... but not always)
