Russia to 'disconnect from global internet' on March 11

Russia reportedly gearing to cut itself off from the 'global internet' or whatever the hell that means, and it could be BAD.
Belarus-based media outlet Nexta tweeted: "#Russia began active preparations for disconnection from the global Internet. No later than March 11, all servers and domains must be transferred to the #Russian zone. In addition, detailed data on the network infrastructure of the sites is being collected".

They probably have VPN for their works

However, once a country disconnects from the Internet completely, VPN programs will not be able to bypass state-controlled nodes and connect to servers in Germany or the United States, for example. They do not exist in a closed network.

Will not work, but in theory some people with satellite internet will be able to create a gateway.

    I wish China also disconnects.

That would solve so many issues.

I have some data in mail.ru's cloud product. Anyone can recommend any cheap alternatives? Preferably one of those lifetime storage offers would do.

In theory but it would be very dangerous. If you have such a thing you might want to keep it hidden, only at home and only for friends. FSB would be able to detect VPNs going to some address and pay you a visit. The new laws are rubberstamped very fast, allowing external access to foreign sources will mean you are a foreign agent pretty soon. They can also apply retroactively, a la HK where people are now convicted using laws which did not exist when they "perpetrated" their "sedition".

If you have data locked away in a disconnected area, we can help getting it out:

Here's your 160 rubles for the post. Or as it's better known, one euro.

Considering Intel, AMD AND TSMC all dropped Russia you should really start worrying about that instead of our bills. If you haven't heard already the the EU is already in talks with Qatar and Alžerija for gas and the Saudis are ramping up oil production.

In theory you could use GloFo but they are German so no chance in that. Maybe Samsung? Wait, that won't work either. Need memories? Hynix already pulled out as well. Aaaaaahhh, the good olden days of stone age when it comes to IT.

Congrats you went into a trap. For a start your link just points to some gobbledegook about something the real source said. That real source is Nexta which is "belarussian" only in name and to mislead people into believing that they are somehow a belarussian news source.
Well, they are not. Nexta is but the telegram (and youtube it seems) channel of people coming from Belarussia but actually living "in exile" in Poland since they have been found to be a major instigator in the "colour revolution" attempt in Belarussia.

Now one might think - and certainly many here do - that what they did was good thing, but that doesn't change the fact that as a news source they can't be trusted and anyway they certainly are at least 3 hops away from Russia and have no access to real sources.

Dude, no one here cares about Apple, Intel, AMD and other overpriced goods. I prefer if Apple GTFO and never returns. America make big money on us and place sanctions at the same time. Say no our money to them for their overpriced staff. $800-$1000 for phone? I didnt see reason to pay this price.
We have a lot of Chinese manufacturers here such a Huawei or Xiaomi who replace them in full for much lower prices for their products.
For Intel, AMD and others there a big black market still exist, also huge marked of previosly used hardware. So not not a problem buy these things.

@serv_ee said EU is already in talks with Qatar and Alžerija for gas and the Saudis are ramping up oil production,,

I guess the cost of delivery from Middle East must be much highter than you save. Lets try.
