I run minecraft on one of those always free oracle servers for almost a month now, no problems. The always free servers meet your requirements.

I used this guide to set it up

    https://blogs.oracle.com/developers/post/how-to-set-up-and-run-a-really-powerful-free-minecraft-server-in-the-cloud

Thanks for that, Somehow I always skipped the oracle free thread as I thought free=nonsense. Pretty awesome what they offer for free!

Running a really heavy modded pack without any issues so far.

    Every machine can run gameservers.

However, you likely want high clocked cpu cores and KVM, at least.
Not oversold too, otherwise you end up with rate drops and lags on the gameserver.

If the cores are shared, and not oversold, for a small budget, should workout too.

  • I have to say that for any VPS squeezing all the core performance 24/7 will not be tolerated...go find for dedis.
