last time i wanted to upgrade a promotional item my only choice was to cancel current product and but the promotional one took me about 2h to export and import all the data
tho i got some money back from cancelling my current offer so it's not bad, but there is a easier way?
I've always been the type to just try to not use support because its either way too slow or I feel like I'm bothering them, but RackNerd has certainly changed my mind on that front. I'll set low priority tickets on a weekend evening and still near instant response.
I might seem like another RackNerd fanboi but for this price range I can't beat it. Lol
Almost about to submit a complaint about too much uptime and not enough noisy neighbors on my nodes. Haha.

I'm kinda doing the same and have never really done forum stuff on mobile but it feels rude to just bust out the laptop when guests/family are around. Not as easy to use mobile but it feels less rude lol

I feel the same way about bothering support. So I have redundant VPS in all locations. If a VPS has a problem it gets pulled out automatically. In each location I normally have one "good" provider and one or two cheap deals. Interestingly some of the "good" providers have had more issues over the last year or so than the cheap deals. The support has been about 50/50, ether really outstanding or non existent.
The best option is to not need support, but knowing RackNerd has non oversold VPS and fast support makes me look to buying more from them as the "good" ones expire.
There are a few things that I wish they had without ticketing.
Like reverse DNS entries and ISO installs, but if they don't mind the tickets its so fast it is not really a problem for me.
Those were honestly my two biggest things I was wishing for when I first started with RackNerd. The abilities to mount my own ISO was probably the biggest (on VirMach I just use netboot.xyz for the most part anyway so even just that one as an option would be sweet) but then I learned how to install ISOs myself without asking before I found out the speed at which they reply. I tend to do a lot of testing and don't want to submit tickets like crazy but yeah they seem to have it covered.
So even without those things, I'm fully happy now, thanks to support, although self-mounting ISOs would still be welcome @dustinc
I can see why reverse DNS being a support thing is preferred as email spam is pretty bad, but when other providers want you to submit a ticket and take days to get around to it, that can really hinder a job/project.
So the upgrade is not possible with the data intact? Like we do in Linode, DO?

If for example you ordered a promotional product from one of our other promo's months/years back, and today want to upgrade that existing VPS to a New Year 2022 package, then that is not possible as we do not allow promotional hopping. However you are welcome to place a new order for a New Year 2022 package for expansion purposes.
However, for instance, if you ordered a New Year 1 GB KVM VPS package, and wanted to upgrade to the New Year 3 GB KVM VPS package down the road - then that is totally possible (since these two products are in the same promotional group). Either way, if you're just unsure and want us to take a personalized look at your account and go over some upgrade options for you - feel free to open a sales ticket or e-mail me directly at: [email protected]
I have one active VPS in Amsterdam with Racknerd that I got last year.. Using that for some websites, never had to deal with the RN support till now.
I rebooted it once few months back.. and current up time is 157 days.. Great uptime.
is there a possibility i can upgrade my deal to the newest one on my next due date 02/01/2022?
will i loose my data? is there another option?

What we could do is cancel out this particular service and issue a prorated store credit;
you can use that store credit to buy new servers upon your preferred plans or renewal of your server, etc. But, yes, data will be lost and you need to do your own back of your server before it is going to be cancelled and order to the new VPS and then you can transfer your server data to your new server(you need to do this task since we are providing unmanaged servers)
personally it's a bummer but it's fair enough, like, yeah im kinda cheap and try the best deal so I really can't blame them, 40$ a year and im getting more support than i should at this pricepoint haha
TL;DR; maybe dustin can help you, maybe he can whip me a Windows Server, maybe he can't
@DeadlyChemist -- I just touched on this in greater detail in my previous response to @xpress7 - but in summary, it is possible to upgrade an existing VPS in place without losing data, so long that the new package you're looking to upgrade to is in the same promotional group and that you're not "hopping" from one promo group to another.
On a case by case basis, if you're looking to hop over to another promotional group, we may consider it but in those cases if it is approved, it will be in the form of an account credit versus an in-place upgrade.

oh okay so if you buy new year package lowest tier, you can upgrade to highest
but if you bought BF deal, you can't upgrade to New Year deal
