Hello imok are you ok or not ok? Time to change name or not?
Yes, it's him you're looking for...
Hola @ZA_capetown, yes, it's me.
would you tell us why your username is that?
Probably.
Who?
@JabJab,
We haven't received any tickets from Virmach on our end about any issues in quite some time, please PM me the IP as well if you would be so kind, as I am very curious to see if this in fact was emanating from our network, we have a team of 24/7/365 Network Engineers that are constantly on top of our network, and this is something we pride ourselves in. So hearing something like this, raises some alarm bells in my head.
If you ever face such issues, even though you aren't a customer, feel free to open a ticket and PM me and we would be glad to help.
@VirMach will we see our HUGE SSD storage VPS?
VIIIIIRMAAAAACHHH
Wow, ServerHub is in the house.
With pleasure, @imok - I will gladly tell you.
When I had to register a username, I wasn't being very creative.
And I wanted to keep it rather vague, and impersonal.
Since I never intended to actually get emotionally attached or comment much.
My idea was to mostly only lurk (but this thread especially, changed all of that quite a bit)
So I used my location as username.
ZA = obviously being the country code for South Africa
Cape Town = being the mother city and capital of South Africa, and where I'm from.
Founded in 1652 by Dutch commander Jan van Riebeeck as a halfway stop and refill station for ships that were on trade routes to the spices in the East.
There were no Seven Elevens or McDonalds back then.
We're a mixture of a 1st World and a 3rd World country.
We developed some of the world's most advanced technology, and were one of the few countries that were capable to produce their own nuclear weapons (and only country to voluntarily disband them, around 1991)
The first heart transplant in the world, invented the CT/CAT Scan, etc.
And of course we produced people like
Elon Musk, JRR Tolkien, Charlize Theron, Die Antwoord, etc
And of course: Mark Shuttleworth, creator of Ubuntu (and originally sold Thawte to VeriSign)
And AWS - Amazon EC2 , was originally developed in Cape Town.
Cape Town (Western Cape) generally being regarded as the Land of Milk and Honey - where things are relatively still well run and in good conditions, compared to other parts of the country that's doing less well.
< / the 2min SA recap>
@ZA_capetown wow that's amazing
Congratulations @ZA_capetown on winning the 100 empty Ryzen boxes!!
He can probably make a mint selling them with vaguely worded ebay listings.
Oh @ZA_capetown, about those empty Ryzen boxes...
I remember that you were really hoping to get them.
The art of the deal is your friend.
@FrankZ
Now I am having second thoughts about it...perhaps it's for the better that @ZA_capetown got it
Nooooo, shopping cart empty on $8.88 deal
Oh nooooes! I'm back home, about 12mins too late for the great grand finale!
Saturday's parkrun (5km walk / jog) event is about the only time I leave my apartment... and about the only thing in life I make sure never to miss... rain or shine and even if I have to crawl all of the 5km... I raced back as fast as I could
Wait... I won the Nr1 Big Giveaway prize of the 100 AMD boxes? WOOHOOO!!!!!
It's a shame I won't realistically be able to accept it... but winning it has made my day!
Ok now that 8.88 deal is over... can we have some huge SSD deal?
I am actually needing some storage for backup, not sure whether that can happen in Buffalo?
Kindness of my heart offer: Willing to trade the 100 Ryzen Boxes for the $1,000 voucher... neg.
Since shipping those 100 boxes all the way to South Africa would probably cost an arm and leg... and as much as I know this is the biggest prize by far, I'm willing to trade it to someone else that badly wants it for maybe a slightly lesser prize or offer
(this pains me having to type this... those 100 boxes is SOOO COOOL... but alas... I have a very small apartment and I already have hoarding issues that's seriously causing problems)
The most important part was the honour of winning the Nr1 prize! YAY
See you 2022
@FAT32
I'm not sure if I share the same opinion as most of the people here but...what are chances of this thread being set to sink again? Why bother, you ask? Nothing rational really...
Trade you for a gallon of lube? haha
Virmach said that those boxes might contain the coolers, right?
https://www.ebay.com/itm/293672506491
$42.99 on eBay for 1x "AMD 3900X EMPTY BOX with Wraith Prism Cooler"
100x $42.99 = $4,299
😵
Maybe I was too quick to offer to trade it for the $1,000 voucher...
Ok time to catch up on the other thread of the +/- 4 hours that I missed
@ZA_capetown - I like the way you think.
EDIT: Wrong thread... again. Man, having 2 VirMach threads confuse the hell out of me
We should have more, right?
I just realized that we're on to

500/100
5
It's cold
Depending on location.
