    looking at https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/search?q=AMD+EPYC+7702P

I personally would say the single core score is close enough. lots of (fresh) netcup systems in that list though.
scaling on multi core is above factor 3, so I also would gladly accept this, especially if your system is already running some stuff.

as said before, it's still a virtualised system and the layer in between will take it's toll. to me the numbers would be as expected. with their vservers these score deviate much more..

Yes, it's very close to those numbers and great root server for the price!

Oh my bad. Sorry for giving an inaccurate info.

Also, a slightly stupid question but how does one compare "dedicated" VDS cores (like the RS), to a fully dedicated CPU? For comparing two dedis, cpu passmark + looking at number of cores and frequency works. Also if I have access to the server, I usually run a couple of videos encode, and some other CPU intensive tasks for the sake of comparison.

But what about VDS vs Dedi? Coming from an E3-1280 , how do I compare that to a netcup RS? does it give similar performance to an RS1000? RS2000? I am fairly certain the RS 4000 will give superior performance though.

They seem to be dedicated cores, but the node configuration does not allow for pseudo-realtime use cases like gameservers. I get hard freezes for a second or two a few times a day, and some interesting stall reports in dmesg. Consistent behaviour across two RS2000 instances on separate nodes. Stick to dedis for anything more exotic than basic web hosting etc, which netcup represents a fantastic value for

  • How much is "too much" ?

That's what i've been wondering as well!

Anyway, little update, the SSD performance of my RS2000 G9 BF21 is somewhat better today (Sunday 18:50) than yesterday, still not great:

  • only another domain offer today, nothing really fancy. https://www.netcup-offers.eu/bestellen/produkt.php?produkt=2820 - maybe LETs austrian members like it?

to be fair I've not much of an idea what the cheapest pricing for .at might look like with other providers...

  • VPS Deal today, https://www.netcup-offers.eu/bestellen/produkt.php?produkt=2821

Nothing new, but a good one. Also kinda confirms that they are simply bringing back the existing offers. Makes it quite plsnnable, I'd say. Just wait, check daily and get the one you wish for once it appears ;-) ;-)
