@Hxxx said: @Nekki how much TB's realistically you looking for?

    6TB+ once RAID'ed (1 or 5), so either 2x6TB, 3x3TB etc.

I don't really have full context and don't want to go through 68 pages to find it, but is a VPS okay? HostHatch's storage isn't as good of a deal compared to last year, but it's still decent:

    2 CPU core (fairly shared)
    2 GB RAM
    10 TB storage
    20 TB bandwidth
$175 per year ($295 per two years)
double the RAM and bandwidth for two years

~$1.46/TB/month or ~$1.23/TB/month depending if you pay for one year or two.

Is there any legendary provider around that could satisfy @Nekki 's Sexual (Storage) needs?

    But with more TBs?

Moar TBs always equals moar good, but it depends on the terms. £50 is pretty much my max for an upfront yearly payment. I'm also a bit stuck until I land a dedi, that's the priority.

  • Why are so many people interested in many TB of storage on a server? I mean sure 1-2 Tb is nice, but why 20 or more?

  • @Nekki said:
    6TB+ once RAID'ed (1 or 5), so either 2x6TB, 3x3TB etc.

Search for 1590789 on Hetzner auctions - is that kinda what you're after?

That would be OK, although I'd hope for a much lower cost. The disks are mostly dogshit on the Hetzner auctions these days, tons of errors.

    Simple use case:
If you have 2 production servers, each one with 500GB of data that needs to be backed up daily and held for 30days - and the backups cannot be incremental (compliance, immutable, DR, bla bla bla):

    500gb * 2 servers * 30 days = 30TB

Backups take a lot of space.
