Nginx is 100x faster than Litespeed for WordPress

hey guys I just want to stop by Lowend and share new benchmarks and the result are finally here that you have been waiting for after so much confusion.......

  • Nginx is 27x faster than Litespeed and OpenLitespeed for static files
  • Nginx is 50x faster than Litespeed for server-level caching (FastCGI cache is amazing)
  • Nginx is 100x faster than Litespeed for TTFB metric
  • Nginx has no htaccess file that can be hacked by malware or dumbass users
  • Nginx supports other open source software like PHP-FPM
  • Nginx is around 200x more secure, maybe 300x
  • Nginx powers 99% of Alexa Top 1000 websites cuz they don't need f*cking cPanel
  • Nginx is the GOAT and only losers who sell shared servers or want to feel cool from Litespeed guys featuring them on their Facebook page will not use Nginx

so it is very clear now that previous fake benchmarks shared by Litespeed fanbois are bullsh*t and Nginx is obviously much better for SEO results and faster speed and security too for winners

thanks and glad we could solve this together guys :*

It inspiring.. we will drop litespeed from all our server by next morning.

  • Cool. I like the detailed benchmarks! Where can we buy nginx licenses?

Nginx is 100% free sir, welcome to winners club

unlike Litespeed the free version is actually stable and no premium license is required

during past 10 years Nginx never had any breaking changes either!!

Nginx will be 150% faster if you run on i9-11900K. :p

you are very correct sir but I think you mean to say around 250x faster or 350x faster............

don't forget Litespeed team will make very fake numbers so always go bigger

    thank you sir

Nginx is for freedom fighters in Europe and America and around the world

Litespeed is Chinese businessmen who [maybe] want to create monopoly with cPanel team?

    choose now who you support

  • In all seriousness, are there any conclusive benchmarks on this? Does LET have a general consensus on nginx vs ols?

    Thanked by 1qerdan

sir this is the official benchmark for Lowend, Nginx is 100x faster than Litespeed

Lowend guys already know this because Nginx is the poll winner

    https://www.lowendtalk.com/discussion/171638/openlitespeed-vs-nginx-for-static-caching

Litespeed is bloatware for cPanel shared hosting

    https://securityheaders.com/?q=https://litespeedtech.com/&followRedirects=on

    expires Wed, 17 Aug 2005 00:00:00 GMT
    cache-control no-store, no-cache, must-revalidate, post-check=0, pre-check=0
    pragma no-cache
    etag "1617313-1632501892;;;"
    x-lsadc-cache hit

what the hell is this?? Litespeed

    • etag should be for static files (ex. photos) not HTML pages esp. if no-cache already and using the server to cache the HTML content instead of the browser
    • content expires in 2005.... umm ok
    • zero security policies / HSTS

you think these guys are SEO expert or just resell the free Apache software to be premium??

guys don't be losers, use Nginx for your money site

100x fast is a little exaggerated

In fact, it depends on computing, storage speed, network, CDN and so on

  • I coded a NginZ web server this morning when I am shitting. Written in Microsoft powerpoint. It is 30x faster than Nginx. PMed OP for a benchmark.

    Thanked by 1qerdan
  • To me OP looks like an ex-CyberPanel user from IN/PK/BD that got somehow angry that OLS/LS Ent doesn't work for him. BTW some of his statements are true but I am not sure if all of these are true. LS is from mostly Chinese developers, they did throw fake benchmarks here and there, their FOSS softwares are not well tested and they choose shitty GPL so other corporate guys can't take it(but they choose library very carefully that they don''t need to public LS Ent code). LS, Cloudlinux, cPanel are really trying to create a monopoly.

I don't understand all the benchmarks about WordPress being faster on particular servers. Are they talking about the admin panel? Because the actual site should be fully cached on disk (eg using WP Super Cache), and then it just becomes a competition of which server can serve plain HTML files the fastest (spoiler: they can all do that).

Unrelated to WordPress, but I did get around a 10x improvement in response times (and a huge improvement in maintainability) of one of my sites by migrating from PHP to C#. That's an API with dynamic content though, so not I can't simply cache it.

  • $7 !

.NET Core right? Awesome performance, I'm using this too. There's still some better performance ones built with Go, Rust or C++ but I found .Net ecosystem to work awesome, great IDE for free, lots of guides and Microsoft really care about it

I did fast and weird bench.
1.) same VPS in same DC, same unixbench, same ram, same CPU, same everything, but 2 different VPS working at the same time.
2.) I've made 1 WP with generated content, images, posts, comments, trash files, ~20 plugins, and so on.
3.) I tested without and with cache (fastcgi for LEMP, and LSCache for OpenLiteSpeed).
4.) results pretty surprised me damn a lot.

    tl;dr: OLS faster nginx+php-fpm in ~2x+ times.

    Images here: https://imgur.com/a/1wzng82

Without cache, OLS ~2x faster nginx+php-fpm default out the box.
With OLS cache (for nginx fastcgi cache enabled). OLS faster nginx+php7.4-fpm in 2+ times..

This is extremely stupid test, can be wrong, and bla bla bla.
But all that i did - i set up LEMP & OLS with same maridb version, same operating system, same resources, even same PHP versions. The only difference - IPs, and web server...

    🤷‍♀️🤷‍♂️

I have just 1 question: WTF happened to LEMP in last 5 years?

  • OpenLiteSpeed will have http/3 + Quic, Brotli compression out of the box, if you are serving your website via https, it will be faster for sure.

  • @giang said: OpenLiteSpeed will have http/3 + Quic, Brotli compression out of the box, if you are serving your website via https, it will be faster for sure.

My bench incorrect above. But not "falsified". Just setup out the box like most of the users of these products has.

I always thought that nginx+php-fpm faster, always.
But stupid bench above show me that it's not. Even WP site feels much lightweight with OLS for some unknown reasons.

    Caddy too...

In 2020, there was a post about enabling HTTP/3 for Nginx: https://www.grottedubarbu.fr/nginx-quic-http3/

:) if working on IPv9 of @yoursunny a Caddy server will won at all

    A simple Q.

If it's 100x faster, will it die 100x earlier?

  • One can argue back and forth about speed, but the following claim is golden!

Nginx is around 200x more secure, maybe 300x

sir you are correct 100x is too small estimate

the real number is 500x faster than Litespeed but we don't shock the newbies too much
