Yeah sorry, NDA so can't post a screenshot really. But the entire /22 is up for auction for the next few days.
Someone, could just accidentally make a screenshot, remove all data which could lead back to them and upload it somewhere? Its not that complicated.
Use tor or whatever, join irc drop it.
lowendbox on libra.chat
The range has already been unannounced, so yeah, adieu to that
See, I want that screenshot, I want it to see it with my own eyes.
I will hang it up on my wall.
Indeed I can yes
the difference is that mine were always after they were aqquried, at least while I ran them they were up and managed and you got a reply
Chia blockchain.
In 10 years, you can still point to that entry in the Chia Blockhain and tell people:
"See, that's when my Linux ISO's got uploaded to the blockhain"
Well, reading all 36 pages of this thread and trying to understand it all is a full couple hours of my life I'll never get back...
To summarize, hostsolutions.ro is basically gone for good at this rate. Good enough analysis and summary?
This guy @cociu is an ass. No communication for two weeks downtime, no response to tickets, and now find he's sold off the IP range where the server I had purchased resided. Incredibly unprofessional, bordering on criminal. He should not receive a provider tag given this behavior. Glad I was only a customer for a few weeks, but even that time was unpleasant.

So when is the court order proceedings gonna end so we can hear the story?
Since normally legal matters before court are normally hush hush right?
Normally all legal matters are on the public record.
At least, that's how it is in the US.
Looks like it has been rescheduled to the 1st of July.
If someone described this situation to you would you not think it a fraud?
Client purchases a service from a vendor for a year. Vendor then resells initial client's service to a third party completely preventing initial client from using it. Initial client never informed of third party sale or foreclosed option of service and is still charged. Vendor is no longer able to provide said service.
Maybe this is acceptable in rinky-dink Romanian sisters based economy, but not in a global Internet economy where clients and vendors can transact anywhere based on best price and service. I know this is LET, and you can't complain too much at this price point, but I would encourage everyone reading this exchange to look elsewhere for service, echoing the comments above, and for @cociu failure to meet even the lowest bar of service to say nothing of respectable treatment of clients he entered into a business relationship with.
Always better to get ahead of the problem and explain it yourself rather than allow for speculation and anger to drive the discussion. Total and complete involucration in that regard here by @cociu.
This guy picking up the lingo pretty fast - 2nd post, full of references.
WHOSE ALT ACCOUNT IS THAT!?
Thanks. Only took first hit headline and didn't have to read. You can do 520 (netapp) to 512 (normal), just not 512 to 520.
The hard drive has hardware to support 512 byte (emulation) for backward compatibility but is 4K native. At some point, they won't make 512 byte compatible drives and likely only go up as sizes go up.
Yes, you can 520->512....by low level formatting.
You can't slap a netapp drive into a normal server and just assemble the array

Well, selling assets and renting or leasing back is common and expected when trying to financially recover a company... further evidence it's not a scam, just shitty operation/operator. A scam operation wouldn't tie up money in assets and would be liquid and has to fuck off with the money.
I have no expectation of cociu putting on decent service or restoring service, I only object to you calling it a scam. Fuck, you're obtuse.
Why is it so important to you to call it a scam instead of just being shitty? Businesses start every year and the majority fail!!! That's not them scamming customers, that's often them losing their life savings with bad decisions or even problems out of their controls.
Cociu obviously overestimated his capabilities when running a hosting business, that doesn't make him a scammer.
Selling assets that you're offering services from (and you're paid for it) is borderline scamming tho.
I'm not so sure. IP ranges are sold and purchased every day (and or lent, rented,...). It may be an indicator of a provider approaching the cliff - or it may not.
News (kind of funny): I also got (by accident I think) an invoice from HostSolutions / @cociu - for a free test system - and knowing from here that it's kind of hard to contact cociu (and to get a response) I asked my friend who's also a friend of cociu to tell him to kindly cancel that invoice.
Well it worked. Not only did I receive a "payment confirmed" email the next day but I also received a "your new server" email, giving me back the test server - which I hadn't even asked for.
Plus I got a news bit: cociu seems to be trying really hard to somehow restore, or at least to replace, the rotten disks.
Now, I might be wrong but I wonder why he would give me back "my" test system? That doesn't look like someone moving towards the cliff, that looks more like a man who's in deep sh_t but who also keeps his eyes on the time after "rebirth".
Background: cociu and me hardly ever communicate, to him I seem to just be "that guy doing benchmarks, tests, and reviews in a rather hardcore but fair way". And I know from our mutual friend that cociu did not want me to do a normal 3 days or maybe 2 weeks test, but a longterm test of over multiple months. It seems to be related to cocius plan to go quality rather than just quantity and super-cheap and I seem to have been meant to be a neutral "witness" to HS evolving towards a reliable provider with some noticeable - and documented - progress in terms of quality, reliability, etc.
And I (or more precisely my benchmark runs) could indeed demonstrate significant progress, for instance in terms of the node models (formertimes Xeon 5500, 5600, 2400, 2600 v1 or v2, now increasingly 2600 v4, SSDs and even NVMes instead of slow spindles, etc) plus of course Telia instead of M247's poor mix.
And then, BANG, the current horror accident happened.
And now he gives me back the test system (a normal product, not storage) by his own volition without me asking for it. I might be wrong but that doesn't look like an almost "dead" guy. To me that looks like a guy who is fighting - to his last breath if needed.
But let's be clear this whole sh_tstorm here is largely cociu's own fault and IMO not created by the disk (or UPS or whatever) problems but rather by him not communicating and acting in a way bound to create anger (e.g. not answering tickets but doing a promo).
Wait what? Some people here have their services down for weeks while he is out there creating free test instances?
Imagine any other provider doing that.
The guy literally sent out a sales email for his Ryzen stuff while he was all going on. Why are you surprised?
These aren't blocks he had sitting idle (bought, never used). These are the blocks he had all the storage customers in. Please compare to the IP's people mentioned in the thread, it's all in that /22.

I'm not sure that he is leasing back though. He un-announced the range.
Interestingly only 3 of my storage VPSes are in there, but also I have storage VPSes in the following (also down, of course):
Probably either of these scenarios:
(a) I myself also have a dead storage VPS.
(b) wohoo, evil @cociu wasted 2 clicks and 3 seconds he could have better used to repair his storage disaster! Or wait, No, actually not because he's not a techie.
(c) One can see something bad and evil in anything and everything if one wants to.
No not all but many. But that's not the point anyway.
My own storage box was in that range too, but: I think moving a lot of systems out of that range had other reasons; I guess it was related to cociu (largely) moving to Telia. Also it's not only and specifically storage boxes; my friend had multiple (non storage) systems, incl. a dedi, moved out of that range too.
And btw, even if he sold that range because he needed some money to buy new disks for the storage systems, so what? That's his business not ours. Also note that there are plenty possible reasons to sell that range; to name just one possibility he might have sold it to another entity under his control.
Whatever, I don't care much. What I do care about is getting my storage box back and working again.
Of course it's bad if he is giving out free shit while his paying customers don't receive what they PAID for.
Hey @Francisco / @seriesn - mind giving me a free VPS while cutting off some of your paid customers? Seems to be quite normal since it can't be seen as a bad thing.
(a) there is no correlation other than your wanton construct.
(b) I did have free test systems (for some days or weeks) from @seriesn too, and I never saw any connection between any provider giving me a test box and his normal business (other than maybe his hoping to improve his business in case the review was positive).
(c) whether cociu gives me a free test VPS or not has no influence on his work to repair his storage stuff or on what paying users have or don't have.
I can understand that you are frustrated; after all I have a dead storage box myself, but you are creating BS out of thin air and argue emotionally rather than rationally.
What part is irrational in this...?
The IP's isn't something he did in an afternoon. There's at least some time involved between verification, signing documents, NDA's, contracts, etc.
This isn't a 'woops', this isn't someone doing it behind his back.
Do you think he's fucking his users at least in this? There isn't some 'fault' in his IP's minus them being dirty. Did his router burst into flames because he was routing it?
If he's hard on cash and needs to sell the IP's to try to save the company? SAY SO.
As of now there's multiple people that have approved accounts confirming it. I have someone else I trust completely that confirmed the block discussed in here is the one on the linked page.
There is no excuse he can come up with that you can believe on these blocks except "We are absolutely broke and we needed to make some money somewhere.". End of. There is no other excuse than that.
