Wow, I will really wait for this isolation. It will be with the same ips or will need to be reconfigured?
After internal ip has been assigned must new virtual interface appear after reboot? I thought to get new
ens4Virtio net controller with its own mac address, but do not see it.You probably need to completely shut down then start up again. A soft reboot probably isn't sufficient.
This. I could even imagine you need to do a reinstall or configure the second interface manually. AFAIK SolusVM does not fiddle around with the network config on KVM servers after the first install.
Do you see a second interface in
ip linkor the boot log?Yeah... Just manually configure it in
/etc/network/interfacesIMO.There's a "Reconfigure networking" button in HostHatch's control panel that'll rewrite the config file for you (eg.
/etc/network/interfaceson Debian) using SolusVM's feature for this, but I think it still assumes the device names areeth0andeth1, which will break your network config on newer Linux kernels that use "Predictable Interface Names" (where it'sens3andens4unless you disablenet.ifnameswhich will revert to the old names).Thank you! Solved with complete shutdown.
@brueggus thanks for your attention to my problem. The problem was that reboot not help. It was necessary not to reboot, as I did, but to turn it off and on. They assign new network interface to vm as expected
Oh, give me some time to configure and test it :-)
It's the solution to all problems
Hi, I can't reinstall the OS to Derian 10 for a day in one of my VPS, I have been trying many OS and ISO installs but no luck. The reinstall function seems broken or so busy
I can wait but than CP is broken or outdated or too busy at the moment
So, after ~5 years of being a SolusVM end user I finally know what that button is for. Thank you!
@SpeedTest I had the same problem. Need to shutdown server and wait while it will be in this status, then mount your iso and switch to ISO only boot. The main thing is to pause enough in each step
@Daniel15 yeah. can confirm that it's working now
Yeah it's a dangerous button... Basically "blow away the entire config file (including any changes you made) and restore the default one". Some other providers seem to automatically do this at boot which drives me crazy. Many years ago I configured a Tinc VPN (back before WireGuard was around) in
/etc/network/interfaces, then at next shut down + start the entire config disappeared. I learnt to drop my custom interface configs into/etc/network/interfaces.d/directory insteadI wish it behaved more like Ansible... Just ensure the correct pieces of the config are in there (all the IPs are there, netmask is correct, gateway is correct), and don't touch anything else.
it didn't worked for me, I have tried all the options and tricks
This, relax and go back
Problem solved!
Hi all, I bought a 10TB server and just get it delivered. The email said:
And I can't reinstall OS by using "reinstall OS" button, it can't boot because "no such partition".
Do I have to install manually by mounting ISO? Thanks in advance!
If you read carefully what's stated in the email and multiple times here in this thread, yes. Install using the iso and format your partition table in gpt.
@hosthatch Hi, I referred a friend of mine to your black friday sale and they haven't had their LA normal order VPS provisioned (or even in "finalizing") while I have had mine not only delivered but my upgrade questions answered while his ticket has been unanswered. It's putting me in a bit of an awkward position because I recommended you guys and you did provision my VPS..so my experience has been very different now than his. from what I understand everything should have at least been moved to finalizing and he opened the ticket 7 business days out. Should I PM you or someone else his order number? Thanks
@hosthatch
So I'm in this situation where I have an existing vps and I have deposited money for the BF special on 28 Nov. The next day a new invoice was generated for the existing vps and the system auto paid by using the deposit I've made. I requested to get a credit refund cause that money was meant for the BF vps and I planned to cancel the current vps once the BF vps gets provisioned. Waited over 7 working days and ticket still hasn't been answered so I don't even know if I'm gonna get a credit refund. Now I've changed my mind I want to keep my existing vps for another month since it doesn't look like the BF vps is going to be delivered before the renewal date so I'm gonna make another deposit for the remaining cause that invoice for the existing vps auto deducted.
My question is my stock still secured?
It would be better if they were enabled when provisioned, to prevent the needless tickets and manual labor that may take away from provisioning time. I can only guess they did this to prevent system load or something while everyone fills up their space.
That being said, I'm sure they are multitasking and some people working on provisioning and others processing tickets to ensure everyone is always busy.
For me, internal IP would have saved hours and hours and about 600GB of bandwidth, so we're all missing out for something we expected from the start.
I will keep using it.
Do I need to reinstall to upgrade vps in the future?
Is there a snapshot
A small note, I had to shutdown and start then again reboot to get it working.
I haven't received this email (I ordered an all-location combo package), should I be worried?
If your combo included the new locations, then the target is (and always was) end of year, see a couple of pages back for clarification on that. If your combo is for the 10 old locations then they should at minimum be in the "finalising" state; if not then you were invited to make contact about getting it unstuck.
Thanks. It includes the new locations. So they will all be deployed at the same time? I thought the old locations would get deployed first. Good news is I'm not in a hurry.
You can go back a few pages and read the exact comment if you'd like, but it was along the lines that deploying them at the same time is "preferred".
I guess deploying a bundle at different times raises some questions (like what is the bundle renewal date), probably nothing disastrous.
the option to auto-renew VPS or not will be a good panel addition. Like any domain panel does for domains.@hosthatch
Hey guys,
nice to see so many new customers and old customers with new (awesome) BF deals. I opened up a ticket on BF which was put "on hold" shortly after first contact. I still did not get a reply from the support team for about one week now and it feels like i wont be able to get hold of one of the new offers. what can i do to get a response of the support team?
best regards
nobbi
It depends what your ticket was about. If it is just asking something already answered, then it was said that these are lowest priority and you get a reply in a week or two, so the answer is "wait". Similarly, if it was asking for something free, stacked, custom, etc. then this is considered after everything else is deployed so do not expect a reply until at least Monday. In these cases you cannot accelerate a response.
Multiple hours between replies. Customers seem happy now. Slowly, this thread is now reaching a state of entropy.
