I would say that in the hosting space this past week it appears that activity normalized, at least in the US. Web traffic is surging, thanks in large part to the massive increases in Netflix subscriptions.
Why? Either you're seeing the output of their work or you aren't.
How about a monitoring software? for employees
The Australian Bureau of Statistics has released new data showing the pandemic’s impact on business, based on a survey of 3,000 companies in the days after the government’s tough social distancing restrictions were announced on 29 March.

Depends on the work. Sometimes, the complaints or problems happen weeks later, after which it's too late to correct.
how do you track report of your employees?
Toggl
That's what I was thinking. Unless their job is actually just to be sitting it their chair and their bosses job is to intimidate them I can see how that'd only work in an office environment.
Task tracking software is essential regardless if you work in an office or from home. I always found Monday to be a good system.
Let's see what May will be like... in April we even had a slight increase in signups (insignificant, something like 5% or so). Lots of peeps (not in our company though) are heard to be having issues with alcohol due to lockdown...
I think we are going to see the start of a return to the new normal over the next 10 days. As covid-19 related deaths continue to fall in the western world I'd expect to see restaurants, offices, etc, start to reopen.
No doubt though that there will be more folks working from home on a permanent basis. These types of things have a tendency to alter human behavior.
I agree with this, more people will end up working from home where possible and this will be a major thinking of businesses going forward too in regards to reducing costs by having less office space, for example. The question is how much will working from home for some affect productivity.
I like working away from home. There is something to be said about a dedicated work environment for productivity. That being said the quarantine period has been super productive for me. I've gained 2+ hours from the commute. I can pick hours that work best for me to function ( instead of work around traffic hours ). I do a mix of hosting and MSP type work. The MSP business has really been a boom for me - and my coworkers already mostly do home based stuff.
I've found I've been really able to focus on new areas of business and am working on moving into launching VPS hosting publically instead of just managed systems via the MSP side.
I've also taken time to update my skillset and work on my home lab more. Nothing like coming out of quarantine with a host of new/improved skills.
Actually I enjoy working at home.
But it seems the virus crisis is going to be over here. At least I will need to go back to office soon.
for a business not really. because we are an entertainment media so we can ride the wave since lot of people work from home need some entertainment.
for productivity yes, so many distractions at home..
I don't think it will effect the hosting business. Most of them are already working from home.
