Degoo 10TB Cloud Storage - 99$ Lifetime deal on Stacksocial
I know, Degoo is shit and all. But you can currently get 10TB Lifetime Cloud Storage for 99$:

Comments
The HDD it self could cost more than that
They are betting on the avg user not coming from /r/datahoarder.
Is that a scam then? How they can provide something cheaper than HDD cost itself?
degoo software is worthless garbage. don't waste your money.
They're client is shit. You will not able to full the disk.
Please report your experience with degoo, thanks.
You can use the browser version. No need to download the software if it's for Browser upload storage. I prefer Koofr though
Won't be too soon, as I am happy with Koofr :P
Is there a similar deal to this that is actually worth it?
It is always hard to say what something is worth because everyone has different priorities and shares a different opinion about some things. For me a "Lifetime Deal" is worth it, once I think I have gotten my moneys worth. Take Koofr 1TB Lifetime for example. I paid 79$ for that and am happy with their stellar experience. If they were to shutdown in 2 years I wouldn't even complain. That's like ~40$/year for 1TB and Koofr connects with GDrive, OneDrive and Dropbox. Most of my VPN LTDs also have paid their worth many times over (compared to what regular big VPN players charge per year). Koofr is still out there on Stacksocial (although more expensive now)
Wishing I had gotten in on that Koofr deal. Waited too long. Hoping it goes back down to that someday in the future!
Thank you for the recommendation. I’ll take a look!
So, you are paying $99 for lifetime shit and all? Why would anyone want that?
For shit and all?
I purchased a life-time 10TB plan for $99. I am now uploading my desktop backup image of 101GB. The speed is constantly around 250Mbps (it is more stable than any other cloud storage service providers I have like google, ms one drive, etc. One thing that took more than usual was preparing to uploading for a big file like this one. I believe it took about 10 minutes or so to prepare to upload a 101GB file ( Is it a security checking). I will let you know if the speed gets slowed or if I encounter any other problems.
And yes, it has no scheduled backup or sync options. It is purely a simple backup solution with generous storage sizes.
Yes, you are absolutely right. I downloaded their old download client from CNet (as they do not offer any download client to use recently) and the speed is like from an old modem. You shouldn't use the client. Use your favorite web browser and the speed is very fast.
Is it in EU or US?
This one I am not buying. Like I said, happy with Koofr lifetime deal for 79$ for 1TB. Not all lifetime deals are shit. Koofr is a great service. Not all LTDs last a lifetime but nearly all LTDs I bought so far have lasted their money's worth.
Nvm someone already mentioned turbo.
What good is 10 TB for lifetime if company closes its service tomorrow viz.hubic , which was better than this.
Obviously, it's not worth it then. The trick with LTDs is betting on products you can see still being around long enough in the future to get your moneys worth. Most VPN LTDs I have, have been established for several years. Some are resellers of bigger companies I dont see going anywhere soon, either. It's a bet, but with way better odds than in the Casino if you investigate the product you are investing it a bit.
It is in the US.
But, the speed went down to only around 3 Mbps when I put in lots of 1 to 2 gig files.
I really don't get this, why not just buy a portable external hard drive... they are so small this days, you can put it in your back pocket....some come with password protection + 256 bit AES hardware encryption....For me, my data is safe when I have it with me.
Simplicity I guess. With online backup you can just set it and forget it, you don't have to remember to bring a drive, plug it in and copy a bunch of files.
Plus, its easy to lose a physical drive. Fire, you get robbed, waterdamage, static electricity...lots of thing can happen to a physical drive, especially if you move it around.
In conclusion, it depends on your data and you, if you want to share or not.
Merits and flaws. It all depends on your priorities.
But, my files are not something mission critical and I am backing up to the cloud from my back up hdd. No worries there.
can access as a filesystem mount on linux? network speed?
This doesn't sound too bad, actually:

Extremely disappointed.
The speed I saw at 250Mbps for the first file I uploaded was the only instance I was able to get that speed.
The speed now is around 600 to 800Kbps. I am only uploading a single 12 gig file now. It is faster than a modem speed that we used 25 years ago though.
I got had by scammer, degoo. I should have listened to those warnings more carefully.
$99.00 to a garbage can...
Damn, that sux. Can you try again tomorrow at the same time you got the good speed? Perhaps it also depends on the usage time. I guess, you have the "speed" thing enabled?
Did you upload via Web browser, or Degoo Client?
