And limes. Lots and lots of limes.
Is everyone still alive ? Scotch is going down. I need to check if I can have delivery.
Who is Scotch?
@randomq
The Only "True Scotchman" ...
I got well.... busy, today.
I have a lot of work, but my body says "no, you should sleep more" and proceeds to go to bed again.
@imok get your rest bro.
I don't want to promise anything but... I'm not going to promise anything but I'll give a rough update since I feel like I owe you guys some communication after the radio silence. Time flies when you work all day for four months straight!
Please consider all of this very informal, and anything stated may change at any time. This is not an announcement of any kind, we would send those to customers through announcement/network issue page or e-mails. I just wanted to update the few people still sticking around here in the spirit of remaining super transparent. Hopefully this won't backfire in some weird way.
Amsterdam has been ready with Deluxe for some weeks now. We will be putting it in production very soon. This means OpenVZ conversions will continue. This will be in Equinix Amsterdam but with Deluxe's network blend. While we worked the deal through ColoCrossing, it seems like Deluxe already had some infrastructure there and squeezed us in with separate networking equipment. IPv6 not supported. All servers in Amsterdam Equinix (at this time) are running dual E5-2687w v2 so I'm pretty excited about that.
We are having too many issues with Phoenix as customers have noticed over the last year and few months. It's out of our control; we are considering discontinuing this location. More updates will come soon once it's solidified. For OpenVZ conversions though, they are most likely going to Los Angeles or San Jose with an option to contact us to attempt to stay in Phoenix. Some extremely unstable nodes will most likely be consolidated to healthy Phoenix nodes or moved as well.
We are also having problems in Frankfurt as well, mainly with connectivity and IP space and the datacenter has not provided sufficient resolution. We were unable to secure a contract with another datacenter in Frankfurt at this time. For OpenVZ conversions you'll be moved to Amsterdam for the time being. Reminder, if we do have space in the future it's an option to move back for free. Frankfurt is more stable so we may keep/consolidate over time as we phase out.
For Phoenix and Frankfurt we are pushing hard for a partner. Deluxe does not seem as interested for various reasons. We will explore other options, but hopefully if these locations are important to the majority of customers we will try our best to maintain them. However, we do not feel comfortable continuing them with our current datacenter partners. The short version is they make up a small percentage of our total servers but have 2-3x more outages.
Since we didn't get a good number of servers in Phoenix and Frankfurt after continuous delays, I'm not sure what a sale would look like with limited existing space but we'll look around and see what can be done. Unfortunately the constraint with doing another sale still appears to be with the level of support that's desired by the majority of people so I would expect any sale to be more in line with that price range. Also please do note if we do a sale in Amsterdam, prices are just naturally higher in Europe for us.
Overall, in terms of these locations and partners it means that we will to some dismay be switching over fully to ColoCrossing. We're really pushing for network improvements though. Los Angeles should have either China UC or TC soon. We're trying to make it better, especially if we shift away from Phoenix which seems to be popular due to the network blend. We do have hardware on standby for colocation with other potential partners (Psychz, Inap, QuadraNet) as an option but holding off until things settle down to see how it plays out.
Regarding any outstanding prizes we owe, I'll be going through private messages right now to see if I can flag any down and provide them. Regarding the double surprise I have something in mind and now have some more time to move forward with it. At this point it's overhyped so just be prepared to be disappointed; we'll keep our word though. I know some of you probably though we just ran off, never to return. I dream about it sometimes, yet I'm still here. If I forgot anything else let me know.
We will be finalizing OVZ conversions. What this means is that we're going to begin pulling the plug on these servers (I know, you probably thought we did this but we're way too overprotective of your data to rush it.) We know there's some cases where issues occurred and one or two customers still ask us for a resync. There's also some people that had large problems with the conversion. We will most likely consolidate these people remaining on OVZ onto a single node (there's not that many) and then everyone else we will hold some disaster recovery backups for a good amount of time.
I didn't want to come here with this many words and nothing to offer you so here's a coupon for E3-HDL for $25/mo for the first 6 months. Coupon code "LET2020HDL25MARCH" expires April 1st.
And here's replies to the last few months of tags. Well as far as it goes with the flood of other notifications.
What basically happened was I personally fell behind a lot after Black Friday and it snowballed and every time I visited LET, there were a few hundred notifications so it was easier to look away for a while. Then it ended up being longer than expected, like everything else.
I'm guilty of accidentally hoarding toilet paper but that's it. Amazon subscriptions are no fun when you leave it on the default setting for a year and have no time left for friends to come over and use your bathroom.
We definitely need to do a Valentine's day two for one special.

Early next week.
1 VirMach - @VirMach 34
Wow, I just noticed this. Thank you everyone for the support. Other thread as well, means a lot. This is kind of awkward, I feel like we didn't show up to collect our Emmy.
Well I guess if you say it like that I can't say no.
Pick me!
Aaaand we're back in our regular programming.
Glad VirMach has an ample supply of bathroom tissues!
TL;DR!
Virmach is back
wdym back, we never doubted that they are gonne!!1one1.
Good luck to @VirMach for reading all those PMs now - even I contributed to that sending one, sorry. Take your time
Yes to all
Anyone having a VirMach dedi in LA/SJ?
Waiting for the SSD32G Coronavirus Limited Edition: $15/m with additional 5 IPs.
10/10 would buy.
BTW, @VirMach any plans for NVMe or Ryzen? I'm having a good time with those.
Quarantine day 13:
Triple post!
Quadruple post: the president says we will be at home until April 13.
Read the post, now I'm prepared to be disappointed.
@VirMaaaAAAAAaaaaaach!
Yay @VirMach is still alive!
And he has enough toilet paper, bonus!
Still waiting and wishing for a 2GB mem/2CPU/20GB/2IP/2TB 'ish (doubled to 4?) for $2/year type of deal (in Amsterdam!) as the double prize? yay!
By the way, I think @FAT32 should maybe (if possible) review that list to see who of the original (15-25'ish) that qualified, actually also posted since BF to the 200 Xmas, to qualify for the double?
And maybe also after that up to now for an extra/triple bonus?
Many faded away and didn't contribute to the "double" at 200 thing.
And you take only those that remained active, the prize could easier be bigger with fewer people qualifying?
I.e. 3 tiers of prizes?
The original, the double and then a triple/quadruple?
Those that left and deserted would anyways not mind (or know)? :-P
Maybe also add a condition that only those that have already spent more than $50 qualify for the top tier bonus? (to be a bit more fair to Virmach)
So...
...South Africa's 21 day total lockdown quarantine starts in 2 hours from now.
(I'm stocked up with about 2 months' supplies in case they extend it)
Stay safe.
HI
DragonBound, Counter Strike, Half life, WoW. Games I've heard a lot and just played around 5 times in my life.
Fortnite, Plants vs Zombies, Overwatch, League of legends, Minecraft. Games I've never played.
I like Super Mario World.
to avoid scurvy if you think quarantine could last two months.
Good day all
Where is the bus ?
Should stay away from the buses these days.
Yes... quarantine can make people crazy and some passenger can take the wheel and crash the bus while you are waiting at the bus stop.
