But JetBackup is now creating a version for DirectAdmin, should we take bets on either they haven't sold JetBackup (Unlikely) or the version for DirectAdmin gets canned.
BuycPanel did a special discount, need to check if the terms stays the same.
Guys please stop licking DA's balls..
They will be the next cPanel..
In this business everyone will show their color...
Some maybe fast some later but they are all same..
Right now DA is good but I'm sure in future they will do the same..
@ViridWeb
There's no guarantee that DirectAdmin will keep the same pricing forever, but I can say that I trust them more given that they do have a small presence on LET (unlike cPanel), fulfill feature requests from the community (including adapting the interface for previous cPanel users), etc.
But I'm fairly certain that any future price increases will at the very least be reasonable (i.e not doubling/tripling/etc pricing in one shot). And besides, if DirectAdmin pulls such a stunt off, what will incentivize users to remain on DA?
What choice do small players have anyway? They have to play gay and bend over with pants down.
Don’t agree with this. They are gaining market share, small or large doesn’t matter, they are gaining.
As @FlamesRunner said they maintain a presence here, I don’t remember cPanel having a presence anywhere let alone a forum dedicated to the low end market. Check the feature requests on cPanel, Nginx was requested 6 years ago and still not launched into production.
With that perspective why bother doing business with anyone if nobody is to be trusted?

Am I the only one who reckons DA doesn't (yet) match up to cPanel/WHM? :-|
My recent bill included the outrageous new cPanel/WHM rate.
Well, of course DA is not on par with CPanel. CPanel has a market share of what, 90%?
DA gaining overall 10% of total market share will be considered very successful.
You sir are prem. But do you require a medal?
I wasn't considering any financial or organisational aspects, only on its' technical facilities and user friendliness. Sorry, I should've been clearer.
Cheers @Mic-hael couldn’t see it
Nope! That's true.. There's no comparison between cPanel and DA
But their recent pricing sucks..
Anyway DA is just capturing the market.. Once it's established itself like cPanel it will follow the cPanel's path
There is only one thing. DA is PREM!!!!
Whatever you said.. there's no comparison between cPanel and DA in technical aspects..
But their pricing is now most idiotic..
But I'm sure DA will include most of the cPanel features in near future..
Yes they are gaining.. but this is the most scary thing..
If someone becomes superior they will do the same..
Not a single entry when I search for "fellating a web hosting control panel" on PornHub.
Disappointing.
BTW, are we sure DA is male?
A blind man could have seen this acquisition coming...
I'm sure it was in their game plan when they were running the numbers while considering the price increases.
.
ByecPanel.
Join a company that fucked over the entire hosting industry. Very customer-centric...
Slap a redirect to cpanel.com
Fire all staff
Profit
They'll just become account managers.
They likely have some deal where all of the current customers will be marked to them so whatever extra bonuses they may give account managers they can cash in.
I don't see them getting much given the position they were in. I hope they got a mid 6 figure deal, a dollar or two per active service.
They've always been great to work with and very responsive whenever I've needed license's be released.
Francisco
I do hope they get something in return for all their efforts with building, supporting and maintaining that brand up until this point
I am currently using both cpanel and DirectAdmin. DirectAdmin interface is very slow. So much slow slower than those of cpanel. I though Ajax is supposed to make everything faster. Not the other way around.
I'm experiencing the same thing. I wonder if it is related to the stupid fade-in that Direct Admin does.
I agree with you here, infact DA already showed it, they stopped selling lifetime license as soon as cPanel messed up as they knew everybody is just going to jump to DA.
But it's their business
Or because it was unsustainable when people are looking for them to start developing new features ?
