Meh, £1.20 a month inc VAT, I can deal with that. Still getting 2 dedis for much less than the price of my existing one.

Is Oles the owner of OVH?

    Founder, owner, apparently "C(T|E)O".

  • Could someone test some upload speeds? Or provide a download file?

@jtr CB = Credit Card Number ... is still wonder what about other payment types :) Paypal, wire transfers, what stops from using different credit cards for paying each server?

I don't know. At this point I'm just waiting to see what happens with the promised US-purchasable EU servers.

Ole just tweeted and confirmed that its 3 new KS servers of any server model.

Oles/Octave is the founder and General Manager but not the CEO His father is the CEO/President. his brother is R&D manager, and his mother is VP/Controller.

Has anyone done a benchmark on the BHS KS1 (I3-2130)? I wonder if they will deploy KS2Gs there...

Looks like they fixed the VAC bug, but not e-mail from support.
    I could connect again yay.

  • jcalebjcaleb Member

might just go with qps or wholesale =(

  • Do they have the option for out-of-band console? What is the price?

  • @Jack said:
Out of band? not possible as its unmetered.. You can put it in rescue mode for a console tho..

He's looking for something like IPMI.

not on any of the Kimsufis :) You need to get an SP series or above and get a professional use subscription for €15.00 /month. KVM, IPMI, and Serial over Lan are all included in the subscription.

There is vKVM on Kimsufi, which is a very unusual system, but it works and is more than enough to solve all problems with a non-booting base OS.

  • vKVM was removed months ago because it was unmaintained

  • Any word about refunds for cancelled orders?

Any word about refunds for cancelled orders?

No word other than yes, they will issue refunds. How soon is a different question, give them at least till wednesday before doing any Paypal dispute. Or just relax and wait, we still haven't got the cancellation notice E-Mail to begin with, and Oles is repeatedly ignoring me on Twitter about the non-EU restriction, it feels like they are still not sure what to do about it.

  • MaouniqueMaounique Host Rep, Veteran

They might allow only US/Canada on top of EU. And that only for orders placed before the restriction.

I am almost sure other continents/countries will not be allowed, at least for now.

This offer is losing money, it might be ok to test firewalls, train people, fill DCs which are empty, but cannot be done on the long time because of wages costs.

Ppl are taking into consideration power and traffic, but they do not consider that France has a minimum wage of almost 10 Eur an hour...

Even at great speed, transporting those, installing, handling orders, provisioning, maintenance, dusting off, cleaning the floor, fixing broken toilets and the guard salaries will weight heavily on the 3 Eur price. There are also taxes to be paid and France is in no way shape or form low on taxation.

No people, quit trying to prove it can be done with a profit or without losing money, it cant, just be happy if you get one and lets move on, dont have absurd demands, threaten cancellations, etc, they are laughing their asses off..

There is one more thing to think about - the unmetered traffic. European traffic comes almost free for them - since they peer a lot in Europe. For traffic to USA or other countries OVH has to buy transit (or transport between Europe and USA). So they probably want the majority of the traffic generated by these ultra cheap boxes to be european traffic.

  • @talsit Thanks, whats up with your RAM though, isn't it supposed to be 32GB?

  • It would look good on their part if they accepted orders for people who had verified accounts and they processed payment before they added EU clause and whatnot.. Most people from non-eu wouldn't have ordered and paid in the first place if OVH had made their offer clear when they opened up.

If as people have been speculating around here, this is more of a showcase for investors, the last thing they need is bad PR. Maybe he just thinks that by ignoring you, he can avoid expostulatory comments.

One fiery blog post coming up.

Anyone have screenshots of the Order screen and agreement before they amended it to exclude non EU orders?

  • I suggest for all non-eur ppl to keep trying ( in twitter , phone , emails and forums ) until they at least accept those who ordered before the new exception!

  • rm_rm_ IPv6 Advocate, Veteran

Ask https://twitter.com/olesovhcom what's with the EU restriction and if people ordered before it will get their servers. I asked twice, no reply yet.
