    VirMach is located mostly at ColoCrossing data centers and they don't know what IPv6 is.

    I'm not sure if IPv6 is offered in some of the non-ColoCrossing datacenters where VirMach has servers, perhaps @VirMach can clarify.

    The CPU frequency looks a bit low (2.4Ghz) but the IO and connection seems good.

    KVM Special 4 is the best, with the promo code it's $26/yr for:

    – 4GB RAM
    – 3x vCPU @ 3GHz
    – 40GB SSD (RAID 10)
    – 2TB Bandwidth
    – 10Gbps uplink
    – 1x Dedicated IPv4
    – KVM/SolusVM
    – Windows & Linux

    2x FAIR SHARE CPU vCORE
    25GB SSD (RAID 10)

    1 DEDICATED IPv4

    but the disk inside the windows is being shown only 11.6gb that is nearly full. Is this a error or how its meant to be? if not, any advise to gain the full space.

    Definitely open a ticket if its 11.6 total with less than a gig left free. Just in case you mean 11.6 free after the operating system is installed, that would be expected.

    presumably colocrossing is much cheaper for them to offer

    I found this on virmach.await.app:

    var predictedPrice = Math.ceil((parsed.cpu * 5 + parsed.ram / 1024 * 3 + parsed.hdd * 0.5) / (parsed.virt.match(/OpenVZ/i) ? 2 : 1) * (parsed.location === '水牛城' ? 0.8 : 1));

    The Buffalo (水牛城) ones are just cheaper than the others. I guess this is based on some statistical result.

    We don't have a script that discounts Buffalo. There may be other factors affecting the price more in Buffalo.

    That just means you can use it all and not break our AUP. When we give dedicated cores for high CPU KVM packages, it's the same thing. We've modified it to remove "dedicated" to avoid any confusion.

    how many cores?

    Single core. Stock server 2012 install, idling hard. This was awhile back. IIRC it only had like 2-3GB of ram so maybe it was swapping pretty hard during an update or something.

    Your service: xxxxxxxx was recently found to be using high levels of I/O. It has been temporarily powered off.

    While we permit you to burst to around 80 TPS, our fair use policy does not permit constant usage or larger bursts. Please feel free to check our terms of service for specific details on this policy. Please reduce your usage to fit in line with our terms of service. If the high usage continues your service may be powered off or suspended.

    Hum, that's what makes me hesitating to grab a KVM box with @VirMach. Not that I plan to use windows but I fear that my scripts and the CPU limit don't enjoy each other very well... How does that happens when your box gets suspended for CPU abuse? Do you get some messages before?

    Wasn't my intention to cast doubt on VirMach as a provider, but I know CPU abuse has been an issue for Windows updates in the past. But throwing Windows on a VM with only one core is asking for trouble.

    If you're sticking with Linux, I doubt you'll run into any issues as long as you're not hammering the CPU. Their system sends out a warning email before actually suspending the VM as long as you're not pegging the CPU 100% (in which you may be cut off before you get a chance to act on the warning message). I've only received one notice from my hoards of VirMach VMs, which turned out to be sent in error. But like everything else, YMMV.

    @bula said:
    Would be great if multiple IPv4 address are also offered.

    ^ this, yes please

    Cheapest option would be to grab the next ~$5/yr flash special and GRE tunnel the traffic over to your main VM. You'll essentially be picking up the 2nd IP for much cheaper than it'd be to order one formally.

    Sometimes Windows just goes crazy. Our system is better now at filtering out these spikes. However, if you're just idling, theres still a possibility of your service paging heavily or maxing out usage for an extended period of time on Windows.

    It's definitely not the best operating system you can use, especially if it's not being monitored and it's a special.

    It would have displayed that you're purchasing two of them in the cart and on the invoices, and it would show discount is only applied to a single service. We don't have any information that would lead us to believe this could occur otherwise, but we'll investigate.

    Private message me with more details.

    Will you suspend on updates or just throttle it? I would definitely not care if it took 10 hours to run the update but I'd not want my VM suspended during a windows update, corrupting everything.
