    Yup as @vovler stated start with single server + CDN i.e. cloudflare. Then learn how to optimise the heck out of that one server (system, web stack and application levels) through measured benchmarking and monitoring to track your optimisation progress. Once you have all those skills and know how down, you can then start applying it on a multi server/cluster basis.
