Server Build - thoughts?

MartinDMartinD Member
edited May 2013 in General

I've been looking at racking up a stack of servers with the following standard build:

Supermicro Chassis
E3 1230v2
4-32GB RAM
4 x 1TB Sata
Dedicated IPMI port

The option to customise ram and drives would be available. With the above in mind, I have a few questions:

1) Do you feel it's better to have the 4-bay chassis or would you like lower prices for a 2-bay chassis?
2) If you were to upgrade the RAM/drives, would you rather a 1 time fee and the same monthly cost or an increase in monthly cost?
3) Would you prefer smaller drives to help reduce the monthly cost? Say, 4 x 500GB instead of the 1TB.

Happy to listen to any feedback the community may have. If I go ahead with this I'll be sure to repay you all with a sunrise offer :)

Cheers.
