Cheap SSL certs?
Hi,
Two days ago, Joel commented on the BandwagonHost offer that there are Positive SSL certs that can be bought for $3/year.
I've spent an entire afternoon searching but unfortunately I haven't found such an incredible offer.
Do you know where to get $3 SSL certs?
StartSSL free cert is not an option, they are only for individuals.
Thanks!

$2 Positive Certs @ NameCheap apparently.
GogetSSL.com
Recommended.
why don't ask him directly ? search this forum?
dominic beat me
Namecheap runs $1.99 (for the first year) specials fairly often, but I don't think they have one at the moment. GoGetSSL is cheaper the rest of the time.
^this
But only first year...
Really cheap!
I asked him in the comments of the offer, but I haven't received any answer. Also I searched in this forum, but the search engine is next to terrible.
Maybe Joel sees this post and clarifies where he found the $3 certs.
Thanks to all!
is really worth having a ssl site?
i have on my main site, but customers dont care as i see.
The SSL certs have other purposes than serving sites securely. FTPS/FTPES is a good example.

Its USD1.99 for the first year. But now they need a domain / hosting purchase these days...
I use SSL to secure web server ( https), smtp server, imap/pop3 server, ftp server ( SFTP), cPanel + WHM ( for shared hosting servers).
Wouldnt you pay $2-10/yr to secure so many ports and data transfer via them??
^^ Namecheap gives free SSL certs on any domain purchases. I think the $1.99 is for old domains still registered with namecheap that didn't get the free SSL offer.
Find a domain coupon and you can transfer a domain to Name Cheap and add on an SSL cert for $10. They also offer the SSL for $8 without the domain.
$2 ssl for NameCheap is good.
startssl class 2? wildcard, multidomain, etc
Go to namecheap and order reseller hosting for 1 month ( currently 1USD) and then add positive ssl for 1.99.
You can also buy an info domain and get ssl for 1.99 and free whoisguard
@albertdb I just grabbed a new Godaddy cert for $5.99 I needed last night, I like their tools and the name
+1
Have been using GoGetSSL for ages, A+ service.
Wow, nice. No more self-signed certs for this cheap bastard.
Nice price for an Extended SSL -
Extended Validation
Secures single domain/subdomain

Where can I find this deal ?
The cheapest I have found so far is $149/year for a 2 years GeoTrust EV:

Thanks !
Just signed up to post this? $298 for 2 years is a rip off, probably a reseller?
http://www.godaddy.com/ssl/ssl-certificates.aspx
2 years - $74.99/year - $149.98 for 2 years (and you can normally find 20-40% promo codes to get it even cheaper)
I wasnt aware of this thread till today. Yes, GoGetSSL was the one I used. It's a Comodo PositiveSSL at $3.95 per year. That's the cheapest I've seen so far.
@albertdb GoDaddy.
godaddy is bad mens
Really? Apart from the useless addons when ordering I've not had any issues
@Patrick forget him he has the goliath syndrome
Those who don't know what that means..take off your armor, your worst enemy will end up being yourself

I can't see any diff between StartSSL Class1 and Godaddy Class2. Both are just for domain name validation. Won't include org name.
As for FTPS, these cert works well with lftp, but not so well with FileZilla and FlashFXP. FileZilla always prompts a notice and never check validity. FlashFXP checks validity, but still prompts. Therefore the experience is nothing diff from self-signed certs for these two clients.
