VPS with Hong Kong/China IP

edited April 2013 in General

Some suggestion please? (HK/China is fine)
I know edis/ovh/vps.net got it

but edis won't be having HK stock until mid-April or something
ovh doesn't support tun/tap
vps.net no more hk stock

Requirement:
-tun/tap enabled
-128mb ram
-2gb hdd
-500gb bandwidth/month or above
-100mbps or 1gbps shared doesn't matter
-$20/month or lesser =D

I was looking for a HK deal a few days ago with no luck as well. EDIS charges a surcharge on the HK VPS, and the bandwidth is 75% less, so it is actually fairly expensive.

The best I can find is OneAsiaHost in Singapore, which has OK ping from HK (70-80ms I believe when I tried it) and is way cheaper. For the kind of price range, that might be your best bet.

vr.org but their cheapest plan is 1G

Yes, OneAsiaHost is probably your best choice. They have good prices. But are based in SG.

I've tried their old HK server back in 2012 and overall was fine although they got the 75% less traffic but the price consider okay for me, i do know traffic in asia are fairly expensive, so ~

I heard of them before on LEN but do you have any experience with them?
and their HK server ain't available now. I just check their website "Oops, we're out of capacity in this location"

I do got 1 vps with OAH but what i needed now is HK/China IP to access traffic restricted for China only

I mean I have a VPS in their New York City location and am enjoying it. Don't know too much about their HK Location.

  • StarryStarry Member, Host Rep

@johnlth93 they moved to vr.org hknet a few months ago. Look at their blog.

You mean China or just chinese provider?

    I meant China.

Was that a provider? Can't seem to find the offer

  • I guess you need a VPN instead of a VPS.

right above my post http://www.lowendtalk.com/discussion/comment/243551#Comment_243551, never used them though so can't comment on how good/bad it is. It is running by a high school student in China from what I can see, and at least you don't have to apply for a license for it.

@zhuanyi said: It is running by a high school student in China from what I can see

really? that just "comfort" me a lot
anyway i think i'm not going to go for that, seem bad especially the manual activation and reboot/reinstall. Oh and they seem to have only Windows and CentOS

  • @johnlth93 said: really? that just "comfort" me a lot

Many hosts here are teenagers/high school students, as long as they have the technical know-how I do not see it as a huge problem.

Of course, it is your own decision and good luck finding a good VPS!

@zhuanyi said: Many hosts here are teenagers/high school students

    I do not know that
anyway do hope to find one soon while i am waiting for edis =)

  • gbshousegbshouse Member, Host Rep

    Take a look at http://www.exoticvps.com/

  • johnlth93johnlth93 Member, Host Rep

thanks, but most host (hong kong) in the list i've already found out on google
    any other suggestion?

  • gbshousegbshouse Member, Host Rep

@johnlth93 - try China instead (if you want to have Chinese IP)

  • @johnlth93 said: wait, they do? i thought edis was using sunnyvision

We moved to VR a few months ago (very early 2013).

Recommendation: never use Sunnyvision or any of their "cloud" subcompanies.

They are funny, they casually use "$" when they mean HKD, which is like eight to one USD.

So their "$98/month Cloud Machine" is actually about 12.5 USD.
