    OneDrive Pro all the way

Except the desktop sync is still buggy (I mean c'mon they own the OS!). That's my experience as a longtime, heavy, daily OD user. It's just not as bulletproof as DB.

    Also, Windows/Mac only.

Otherwise, yes, very good value. The Office integration / webapps are very nice.

I think it's been improving, I don't get so many version conflicts anymore between the office and home. Skype preview on the other hand...

So I went digging and here is the information I found out about this offer on ACD. Not sure if it applies outside of the US or not.

    promo code is WINTERPRINTS
this will give $12.00 off at
    checkout link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/drive/landing/everything/buy?ref_=cd_asin_ue_buy

when you pay, your 12 months goes into effect immediately, so you will lose any time you may have left on your 3 month free trial.

offer expires on March 31st, so best advice is to wait until then if you are currently on your free trial. Total cost for 12 month is 47.99 plus any applicable taxes or fees.

I detest Bezos more than Google, so..

Sure ? Please, confess. How many times have you waited, with trepidation, the delivery boy with the Amazon pack ? ;)

Plenty. I was a top-500 reviewer once, and then it turned into this huge Wankfest of idiots posting crap about stuff they got for free, and now I think it's all but dead.

OneDrive 1TB per user is great, who need non transparent service as Amazon Unlimited Storage? For some companies unlimited is 1024 Mb, for other 10TB, no one knows the definition.

  • What is its biggest disadvantage to AWS Glacier Storage? Safety, dl speed, API support, etc.?

I noticed Glacier charges quite expensive retrieval cost if pulling out data quickly (e.g. retrieving 1TB in 72hrs ~$190).

  • jarland said: For example, how important is a solid, fast, dependable desktop sync client? That alone limits your choices significantly. Amazon doesn't make one. Google and Dropbox make nice ones

How do I get the one for Google? I've been syncing 110gb to Google Drive for five days, the same amount of data uploaded to Dropbox in about a day.

Be careful with Amazon Cloud Drive. They scan the files to find ISOs and if you try and pull down a large amount of content at the same time (multi TB) they will suspend your account for suspicious activity.

Just encrypt your files before uploading and you will be safe. I hear someone upload 72TB without problem.

Yeah, upload doesn't seem to be an issue. They get you when you try and pull it all down.

There's a limit that if you pass gets your account automatically locked, but if you put in a request to their support, they'll suspend the limit while you move your data. I've done this and moved about 40TB to a google drive account that i had just got with no problem

  • I've had ~20TB+ of data on Amazon drive since last spring.

  • I say this as a fellow large user of ACD: there's no way this is sustainable. More and more people are signing up and abusing the hell out of it (torrenting from it, running massive Plex libraries they share with all of their friends) and I'm sure it won't last.

But it's fun while it does I guess.

  • is amazon cloud drive service available for US customers only?

  • What are the upload speeds to google/gsuite storage from online.net, ovh, and hetzner,
if anyone has anecdotal data on these DCs as upload source ?

  • How do I save files to gdrive wihtout saving them locally first?

google-drive-ocamlfuse is not able to do this.

  • Has anyone used bought one of these? I spoke to some guys from the reddit channel and that is what they recommended. Does anyone have any download/upload speeds for amazon vs google. Also has anyone reached a limit yet or been throttled?

I was curious about those myself. From what I remember reading, it is just a person with a business gsuite package from google that creates an account for you on their plan and then sells that on ebay. You have no data privacy and they can revoke your access at any time. I have no personal experience with it though

    It's illegal, dont try :)

  • When you buy Online google has shut down many of these, so be careful

They limit you by limiting the amount you can download: there's a soft cap at ~2TB/mth and above that your account shall be canceled. So you cannot torrent from it or running huge Plex server, which shall leads to quick death of account due to high frequency of API call.

Is it really not obvious? It's designed for long-term storage, so restores and restore times are purposefully expensive and long, while storage is cheap. Think of it as tape, versus S3 as disk.

Why do you say that 2tb/month is not enough to torrent? Some trackers reward long term seeding. So seeding older torrents which are rarely downloaded you'll have a hard time uploading so much per month.

  • Can someone change the clickbait title? @Jarland

  • @Baris What software are you using to achieve such speeds?

The Synology cloud sync client now works with the Pro version, not only the personal account.

Today is the last day to get your $12 discount with the WINTERPRINTS code. FYI they charge tax on most orders which sucks but still a great price all things considered.

Can this be used if you are still in trial? I cannot find anywhere I could put it...
