Net2FTP is quite stale now (no update in 4 years) but there's still huge demand for web-based FTP. Have a look at Monsta FTP (www.monstaftp.com) which is a free responsive FTP client for your browser (disclaimer: I'm involved with this project)
If you don't want to install cloud software - try syncthing.

That's an open-source solution, powered by one of the best and well-known Russian hosting provider (Shared, Premium Shared and Dedicated - no VPS, .ru accredited Registrar) Beget. Their clean and multifunctional Control Panel is also in-house developed. That's, in a word, my favourite shared in Russia (Saint Petersburg, Selectel DC).

Regarding KodExplorer: Why the hell are they making pointless classes that do work on the host CPU rather than the built-in functions in virtually every DB service?
Personally, I like file_put_contents(), myself.

You can go for AjaXplorer.Its free File Manager which is anything but difficult to-introduce document pioneer for remotely overseeing records on a web server. Its "rich customer" format and activities make it open to any end-client for an assortment of purposes: document administration/sharing, photograph exhibition, code perusing, and so forth
