Did you want a normal yearly ssl or some specific? Yearly, normal, I think PositiveSSL is still the cheapest.
Right but they're $49/yr from Comodo. I know I can buy a $9/yr or so from NameCheap...was wondering if there is a better place to buy.
One of the first google hits for PositiveSSL for me was: https://www.ssls.com at 5$ a year.
But I have no idea how that site itself is. But its the price I roughly remember for PositiveSSL certs.
...if you buy for three years, otherwise $9/yr. Not that this is outrageous or anything.
Hmm...$5/year and easy ansible integration, or deal with let's encrypt 90-day renewals...hmmm...
ARGH! That company is owned by NameCheap.
Sigh...so I guess I won't be deploying this SSL cert today, as based on previous history, NameCheap's internal DOS 386-based management systems should take at least a day or two to process the order...
Get a free AlphaSSL? https://assl.loovit.net/
OK, so I've never heard of that site and pasting my CSR into a 1999-style web form seems...sketchy...
Its a LET brainchild:

Your experience with namecheap is very different than mine, and I register on a daily basis. Namecheap is exceptionally good. Support is fast, if you need them for.. i don't know what since everything domain related is automatic.
Get the GoGetSSL brand certificate from gogetssl.com, it's actually PositiveSSL that gogetssl is reselling, at $4/year or so iirc. If you sign up for their reseller plan there are discounts for all the certificates except I think they sell that $4 one at the reseller cost.
Isn't this supposed to be public information anyways? It's not like your issued certificates are not in CT logs already
Additional fields like locality in the CSR can be fake if you wish, as they're not needed in DV certificate issuance anyways.
Its just a quick automation of generating AlphaSSL wildcard/normal certs without intervention of the person ( @Fidde ) who provided SH account for it. Site is his, codes were done by me so you can blame me for the low to no design skills. But the only thing sketchy about it is that SH expects these free wildcard certs to be used only on their IPs but never really enforced it much.
CSR doesn't (shouldn't have to) contain any sensitive information. Except the common name, you can put anything in the other fields. For DV certs, those fields are not used.
Comodo PositiveSSL are the defacto cheapest paid SSL certificates and as others mentioned, gogetssl & ssl.com are the places to get them for cheap. I think the next cheapest non-Comodo contender would be GlobeSSL. Its $6.9/yr if paid triennially.
