Doesn't seem like it will break into the top three mobile operating systems, but it does seem like a great alternative to Android for everyone who is rooted.

haha, the person who thought of announcing in this was probably just lost his job as he invited a DDOS attack on a magnitude they have never seen.

about 4 million people just hitting F5 over and over again.

wonder if they'll be smart and set a max connections limit, redirect all of the connections that it cannot handle to a different server

@curtisg based on the nothing I assume they did not think of that

    Should have used Cloudflare.

  • So is anyone actually excited about this?

  • @joepie91 said: Should have used Cloudflare.

yep, but do you think cloudflare would like 4million + requests to their servers? meh, they can handle it.

  • Seem to have fixed it ;)

Honestly the farther I get on this video the more and more I want Ubuntu on my phone.

It looks a lot like the Kindle Fire OS but more like Ubuntu.

  • Looks like it is time to develop some Ubuntu mobile apps.

Quite literally. I'm not even sure if it's intentional or not.

    I'm excited about this.

  • What is the hype about?

itouch/iphone is bsd based, you can install linux over itouch/iphone.

you can install linux over most of the nokia phone. so is the hype about nix being on phones?

  • @JohnJohn said: so is the hype about nix being on phones?

No, it's about Ubuntu being on phones.

  • I don't get it, what's so appealing about it?

What if 3999999 of them, due to ddos are probably going to see a cloudflare banner/notice/page/whatever for an unknown period, instead of the Ubuntu page? Better be uploading an html page redirecting to cloudflare? :D

Well, everyone has their own preferences, but personally speaking I think design and functionality are equally important. Ubuntu gets me there. On the face of it, an average Windows user can actually stumble around with a simplistic and visually stimulating experience, from a base installation. At the same time, it's based on Debian, my favorite Linux distribution. So it's the best of both worlds for me. Bringing it to mobile is awesome.

  • @jarland ubuntu phone does look good, but now we need centos phones...
