Indeed, it renders many firewalls ineffective, China and Iran and many other countries have reasons to consider Tor as bad news.
Does anyone recall the scandal about the torservers.net operator and his connection to cyber criminals/child porn?
32mb memories....
No, I won't give you a URL. I gave you the keywords, you go find the URL.
Missed that story bamn. Go figure.
Like I say, US government funded Tor. Need I say more.
Oh right, you mean the information originating from that "Operation Darknet" by a bunch of Anons that later turned out to be total bullshit, a pile of misinformation and exaggerated claims, and missed targets?
Credible source.
Because "wrong" can vary so widely. In the US/Europe it might be aimed-at-the-brainstem charges of child porn or terrorism, or maybe copyright infringement. Elsewhere "wrong" can mean political dissent, fringe sexual activity, or minority religious views.
Any of these can be illegal, depending on jurisdiction. Without knowing the contents of any given packet on the Internet, my predisposition is for communication without someone looking over our shoulders.
We all have something to hide. That's right, none of us would want to see every detail of our past as newspaper headlines. The drugs you took as a teenager, the abortion you had, the public urination that put on the sex offenders list, your extra-marital affair, the job you were fired from. Maybe you're just one of those people who don't want to reveal their income. There is always something we would rather not be public knowledge.
The no-smoke-without-fire assumption you make above is dangerous precisely because it can burn any one of us. The inability of an onlooker to think of an innocent explanation for someones behavior should not lead to the presumption of guilt.
Sorry when you start asking for things like no extradition clauses that raises flags to me. I am not gonna be caught pants down and so I voice my opinion on the subject.
Yeah, that is a problem, because, you know, rape and, even better, child rape cases can be fabricated and from UK you go to Sweden and there to US, because, you know, the US government has a problem with whistle-blowers and ppl that host proofs for the atrocities or plans for atrocities and deals with war criminals and such. That is diplomacy, thou shalt not dig our garbage, we need to be able to claim with a straight face we are the champions of democracy, the protectors of human rights and the oppressed ppl. Some will believe us.
You really are a liberal commy wacko aren't you?
I forgot you hang out with those folks that's how your pretty picture is on The Guardian
Sure, at 14 I was in the streets fighting communism. Against ppl with guns, you know.
I was going to church when it was forbidden and I fight the church when is compulsory, I am in right wing party, but fight all racists and extremists, dont even agree with positive discrimination.
I am a liberal, true, member of the national liberal party (http://www.pnl.ro/), but this is the right wing here, ppl fighting for individual freedom, the right of choice, the right to fail on your own, I believe in darwinism and I fight state intervention, spying and infringing of my freedom, ppl that know better what I should do to be a good citizen.
I say what I think without fear of the consequences, if someone hates me for that, they can chase me away or ignore me, I have nothing to lose, yet.
Hey I have to respect you for that.
Thank you
I am sure many americans think the same way and I greatly respect your constitution's principles, however, they are eroded every day. Communists have great principles and religion too, that didnt stop them from killing billions throughout history in the name of peace and greater good.
Freedom is something that must be won in an everyday fight, there is no such thing as guaranteed freedom, you are not "born into democracy", you have to earn it.
I hope one day ppl will think for themselves and will be able to tell apart truth from lies just by watching a TV show.
I will tell you the secret: when you see a campaign against some group (arabs, muslims, hispanics, communists, gays, whatever) try to think for a moment they are in power and they say the same things about you. How would you be able to prove that is not true when you are in minority, poor and against a hostile population ?
It is easy to be on the side of the majority, but one day you will be a minority too. You cant know how the future turns out, when you will be considered evil for something you cant control. And, even worse, a paranoid society might be wrong and consider you as part of minority even if you are not, it will be hard to prove them wrong, collateral damage, you know.
If we reach that point it is the fault of the majority, not the minority.
I am a white American male we are becoming the minority
And I am still gonna call you a liberal commie wacko
Yeah, there are more females than males already
You can call me whatever you wish as long as you dont start to bomb me because I am wrong and you are afraid I might breed too fast or convince too many ppl and become a majority. Better treat minority as you would like to be treated and things should go well :P
However, in general, calling names is not constructive and is the first step towards hate, violence, war.
Love your enemy, I am not religious in the sense i dont follow any cult, but apart from Aldryic which insulted me horribly, I dont hate anyone here, not even upset
Actually if I decide to give you a title, and tell you I respect you from me anyway is a term of enderment
