Hi,

Dedibox XC SSD 2016 or Dedibox XC SSD 2015, which one to choose?

Config on both is good for my requirements.

I need more than 120 gb storage.

Thanks

Yes, I thought about that one. I wanted you guys to here your opinion / experience with this servers

  • The only disadvantage of the 2016 one is, that it has no IPMI, so if you don't need this go with the 2016 one.

How important is IPMI for servers ?

  • IPMI not very important.
Just use tty or jodel for installation windows

  • XC ssd 2016 just got 175MBps on DD test

    I am using only linux.

Ok, what about Dedibox XC SSD 2015?

    Any other?

Well, their XC 2016 runs in SATAII because of a BIOS bug.

Just be aware if you get the SSD version.

They're working on an update, but last time I asked they had no ETA.

Oh, ok. Thanks. What should you choose, keep 2016 or take 2015?

  • 2016:

    • bigger SSD than advertised (256 GB Samsung PM871)
    • more RAM
    • better bandwidth
    • no ECC RAM
    • no KVM (just TTY)
    • SATA2 and sometimes speeds slower than SATA1 (SATA3 in progress)
    • no CentOS 6.7 or FreeBSD support

    2015:

    • ECC RAM
    • real KVM with an option to mount ISO
    • top class SuperMicro hardware
    • SATA3 on Samsung PM871 SSD (sometimes Intel 320 SATA2 or Intel DC S3500 160 GB SATA2)
    • full CentOS 6.7 and FreeBSD support

To this we can agree. But I'm here sought the opinion of the members of which configuration is better and experience as well as the possible problems that they have.

Okay. Give me a reason and comparison of these two from online of OVH

  • hawchawc Moderator, LIR

OVH dont go round calling people wankers in french, and randomly accusing them of DDoS. OVH have a better network than Online, that is a lot faster and has a lot more PoPs.
