Wondering if anyone has tried out the new Hetzner NVME dedicated servers and can share any benchmarks?

I hope someone tests it with handbrake transcoding.

this server is awesome only if hetzner allows me to use my own ipv4 blocks on their network...

    same as ovh

    same as onlinenet

They offer IP announce only for colo, and to add insult to injury - they charge a hefty fee (last checked it is 100+Eur) per month per subnet.

Not that bad if you announce a /20 for example and fill a rack :P

I don't see the option of installing Centos 6 on their VNC and Linux install page. But I think you can install it with LARA. But you only have a limited time to use LARA for free...

  • I have one with Windows running on it, disk bench attached (Server2012R2 Raid 1)

Is there anything to consider concerning trim and stuff when installing this machine with the 2 SSDs in RAID-1? I never used SSDs in RAID-1 and remember that there was something that one should take care of. Or is this ancient information and no longer relevant?

That thing looks like a really nice machine and the setup does not hurt too much if you plan to use it for 1 year and longer...

I'm sure there will be varying opinions, but I haven't had any problems just going with an out of the box SW RAID 1 setup during install on any of my machines with RAID 1 SSDs.
