The SOPA
See http://americancensorship.org/infographic.html and http://www.mozilla.org/sopa/, something really bad is going to happen if no action is taken.
I don't think it's a good idea and I'm already suffering enough from the censorship here in my dear country. Good luck America.

I don't live in the USA but would like to encourage all citizens to get out there and protest against this...
shrug They'll do whatever they want....
WTF, I'm always surprised at how the USA can take almost dictatorship-like measures without anyone raising an eyebrow.
Well Wordpress is popular. Maybe we're just used to it.
That's basically to what it comes down to. It wouldn't be an allowed democracy if you as a lonely citizen could bar the gov. from interfering with your private life.
it's time to get the hell out of this internet and make our own, with blackjack and hookers
In fact, forget the internet and the blackjack!
Hi,
check this (about yesrterday's hearing) : http://thehill.com/blogs/hillicon-valley/technology/194033-lawmakers-put-onus-on-google-to-fight-piracy-
Damn it America! When are you guys going to stop getting pushed around or move to the EU :P
The fact is that if they want to censor a website they do so, USA or EU doesn't change that much.
A quote from Futurama?
This is the most stupidest law ever!
I feel a commercial rush to European VPN services...
Usually what happens in the US happens in european countries few years after.
In that case i'm afraid it will be months, not years...
You just have to choose a EU country where censorship etc. is against the constitution. Then EU law cannot prevail. There are some.
Laws can change under presure from the US.. see spain
Right which countries are 'good' in eu regarding data retention and all that crap? cz, se, de.. for how long?
Constitutions cannot be changed that easy. Depending on the age of the constitution you need a referendum. Spain is like Greece a relative young democracy.
In Germany the constitutional court decided that the integration into the EU can't go on without a fundamental change of the constitution. And that needs a referendum. There. I don't know about the middle east european countries. But they're pretty young democracies and their system was build according to eu law which isn't the case for some of the founding members of the EU.
Yep, & germany is probably the most powerfull EU country right now...
But well, you can forget FR/UK/IT/ES...
Northern european countries will resist a bit Brussel presure? Not sure...
I know for a fact that PokerStars is located in Isle of Man, the small island near the UK. Military defense by the UK but they got their own laws. That would be the perfect place for a server.
And there goes america complaing about the Censorship in iran, saudi, china etc.. US gov are a bunch of hypocrites
The UK I can tell are heading in that direction too.. I sence it.
Anyways, I don't really get what kinda sites they are blocking. It seems very vague.
The UK is america's bitch. No other word for it.
Some ISPs in the UK already have court orders to block certain sites. Then there's the IWF watchlist.
Yerp. I can see much more coming, the UK monitor our internet usage too at the taxpayers expense of course.
Look at Denmark. They simply started ignoring the Schengen agreement since the mid of 2011 and put up border controls. They also opted out of some EU legislation.
That's cool (that some country ignore EU laws - the fact that they choose to ignore sheinghen probably to keep out illegal immigrants is pretty sad though, as that used to be the good point with shenghen, once you had been able to make it in it was possible to move a bit, even without papers...)
The whole world is. Almost...
Either America's bitch or America's slaves...
Internet censorship? Shouldn't be happening anywhere as far as I'm concerned.
Describes the state of your mobile networks ;P
It dosen't help these big companies attempting to sue BT $1,000,000,000s unless they put these websites on their child porn filter..
Although BT are pretty crappy, thats abuse,
There are some data censorship law (child porn filter, P2P filter etc.) in Finland.
It's an amusing opposite here. US Government intentionally leaves specific avenues for shady traffic (child porn, anti-gov, etc) open for the sole purpose of using them as honeypots to catch people.
