I'm impressed as this machine is running on a single two year old sata drive, linux on Hyper-v used to absolutely suck, but obviously its much better now.

So does anyone know why I would get such good dd numbers on a single desktop sata drive with no raid on Hyper-V?

We just upgraded the storage 1 week ago. It outgrew the old one, we plan on offering a choice slow storage, fast storage and local SSD.

How will this effect pricing? :)

Well, the local ssd storage means there will be no failover and there will be downtime if maintenance is required so, it will be faster but will have disadvantages. It will probably go for the same price as now, the slower, old storage might go cheaper but this is not decided yet.

hear a lot of negative stuff about them. What is the uptime like?

  • don't even need to do a test, it's limited to 11MB/s

    not a problem tho

  • Would not prefer anyone for production sever, i took this server for my application building, uptime really sucks ! Had a longest downtime for any of my VPS till now of 15 hours , xvmlab experimental server is way way better than 123systems,
