While you can raid a SSD and a partition on a HDD together (On Linux and BSD, not on OSX and Windows) it will be useless in RAID1 as it either caches in RAM (== extremely high ram usage) or is limited by the (much slower) HDD
Best to install OS on the SSD and then run hourly incremental backups to the HDD.
I will be installing os on sSd. Basically iws trying do something like SSD-CAched
If you are running Linux, dmcache or bcache are your friends
Your looking for something called hyperduo.. Unfortunately it requires a Maxwell raid chip I think....

ssd cache does help if your motherboard supports it. but really i would just use the 60gb as boot disk/intensive app and use your hard drive for storage.
