definitely Ubuntu. So easy to use.
I used to be a fan of centos 5,6 . still am since we use redhat at work. but i find it hard to install things as there are more packages maintained and available by ubuntu community than centos. maybe I am wrong but I have had better chance of installing things on ubuntu than centos.
Ah yes, I got carried away , and yes, some of my colleague at work use Ubuntu Server Edition for pentesting.
Noobs use Centos... the switch to Debian or Ubuntu
even google use Ubuntu in one of their server
Slackware 3000
Debian
Ubuntu
Because my desktop, my laptop and all my vps are running it.
Best start: Ubuntu 12.10 "Quantal Quetzal" Minimal CD just 34MB.
debian 6 32bit
or
Ubuntu 12.04 32bit
Noobs choose whatever distro folks recommend to them
vs
Non-Noobs choose for themselves..
