The final nail in the coffin: Just received the following email from Crissic Solutions:

===================================================
From: Crissic Solutions support@crissic.net
Date: Fri, 4 Nov 2016 15:46:04 -0700
Subject: [IMPORTANT NOTIFICATION] Crissic Brand Retirement

It is with a heavy heart and after considerable deliberation that we are
officially and permanently discontinuing the Crissic brand and all Crissic
services.

On December 4, 2016 (30 days after this notice is being sent), all Crissic
services and servers will be taken offline and decommissioned.

** Effective immediately, we will be discontinuing and will no longer be able to
provide technical support for this brand. **

While we have delayed this decision for a significant period of time, we are no
longer able to continue offering these services and we apologize for any
inconvenience this causes.

If you currently have an active service with Crissic, please submit a prorated
refund request by December 4, 2016 in order to receive a prorated refund of
services. Clients who wish to be migrated to a fully-managed dedicated server
should speak with our sales department and we will be able to migrate your data
for you. Any eligible pro-rated portion of payment can be applied towards such
services as an account credit.

For clients that do not wish to transfer services to a managed dedicated server
environment, please utilize this time to retrieve any important data and make
any necessary provisions.

  • Can't say I'm surprised. This was probably in the books since day one. IPv4 addresses successfully acquired :-)

Well, at least it's decent notice. From everything people seem to be saying about the brand now, doesn't seem like much reason to keep it open.

Speaks volumes for the situation. Not sure why I got this at all, haven't had Crissic service since October 2014.

(edit) Looks like I received another notification 19 minutes later with my actual name. Good job on the update to let me know that we're not just crapping up my inbox with multiple emails for no reason otherwise.

Those that need Miami as a location check out owned-networks.net, if not, check out owned-networks.net too for other locations besides Miami.

  • Been with them for about 2 years now. I guess I have to find someone else to host my dns & cpanel backups now.

    Err. What?

Even reading between the lines, I don't understand this either. I mean, it's one more month. Why not bother to support what's left?

I enjoyed my crissic vpses. It's a bit sad to see it finally put out.

  • I never signed up.

Tempted several times, but turned away at last second, because OpenVZ.

  • Had an annual VPS which expires in June 2017, and was considering myself lucky as it got renewed just before they decided to discontinue all annual plans! And now there is this!

However, I haven't received any notification on brand termination yet. Fingers crossed.

  • end of an era...

No one has been able to match the performance with that support in that price range

    15 bucks per year 512mb ram storage 100 GB :-p openvz ....

You should deposit $1000 on your account to try and sneak yourself into permanent service.

Well you already know your going to have to vacate by June 2017, I suspect this email was sent to the 'monthly' customers only, most likely the will just do a gradual reduction/migration/consolidation as they terminate all the monthly customers so all the yearly clients are on a single node, probably cheaper than refunding you.

No, I have annual service (through March) and I got this email.

  • no refugee plan? need to move 7 vps from them...this weekend will be a long weekend...

  • @Devonius Are you in the Miami location? We can get you going again in Tampa with a price match. Let me know if you're interested!

  • Nooooooo, my 100GB backup server for 13$ per year.

    The most scary part is

Effective immediately, we will be discontinuing and will no longer be able to provide technical support for this brand.

Let's hope it will work for next few days before I (find something) and migrate everything...

  • If anyone needs refuge we can price match reasonable plans. Just PM me.

  • We have LA OVZ and KVM available for anyone, just shoot me a PM and I'll see what I can do for you :)

  • I initiated this thread, and like sharuu, I have an annual VPS which would have expired in July, 2017. I also considered myself lucky in this regard. Of course, I long ago moved anything critical off this container, but it has remained useful for backups as well as being a nice testing and staging box. I'd even been using it as a SOCK5 server for semi-private browsing. Last weekend, it went down and the CP lost connectivity as well, so there was nothing I could do but open a trouble ticket and wait. It remained down from Friday evening until Monday morning -- in all likelihood due to a trivial problem, but there was apparently no one around to even reboot it. (Requests to Quadranet support to simply reboot the box or my VPS were ignored.)

Crissic had a good run, and I really enjoyed the excellent service when Skylar was at the helm, but perhaps it's time to put the brand to bed while it still has some shreds of dignity left. One would have hoped, though, that when Quadranet willingly took my payment last July, as meager as it was, that they would have planned to have the support and infrastructure in place to hold up their end of the bargain.

IPv4 was. IPv6 surely left something to be desired.

Found the mail in Spam! I should have moved out as soon as Crissic was sold.

First they https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/91580/crissic-by-quadranet-all-low-end-services-shut-down-without-notice/p1 and now this!

  • @sharuu Let us know if you're looking for something else in Florida to move to!
