I think the second one fits better for you: you write software you feel need to, define a price and sell it on Envato, you are now asking for donations on a cheaphead forum that expects 99.99% uptime, top notch service and 4GB RAM for damn $7

kickstarter is not made for software... the nice thing about software is that it can be distributed free of cost, you dont need a kickstarter for that, you do need a kickstarter to start a small factory...
