  • Somewhat impressive, E3... DO does E5s at half the speed.

Thanks for the benchmark, @teamacc But, isn't the VPS supposed to have 2 CPU cores?

    Good catch, ticket sent...

Also missing about 45GB of disk, but that shouldn't influence the benchmarks.

They probably did it purposely because you're just gonna bench.

I'd be lying if I said that I weren't tempted by that E3 @ 3.3Ghz and the disk I/O which is reasonable for a HDD based node. However, the network speed / quality is forcing me to rethink about going forward with any location in India at all.

Reply received within 2 minutes (during their office hours they normally reply within 15-30 minutes), and a core was added. Havent requested the disk upgrade because I have no need for it.

Check the network (BGP), it's more decent than DigitalOcean India imo, at least its not just two Indian networks

That sounds good, and thanks for getting the CPU discrepancy sorted out. How much time do we have to submit our final bids before you close this auction @teamacc ?

Thanks for the heads up @theroyalstudent. I'll look their network info up and factor it into my decision making process prior to submitting my final bid.

Use BGPView.io, is easy to see the peers, upstreams & downstreams. Only was convinced because of the mix that exists, compared to DO.

I've sent him a PM a few hours after he posted on my "wall". Also posted the looking glasses in this thread at the same time.

Havent received any additional information from him yet though.

  • Just gonna bump this. Any takers? Hope no one (ahem @K4Y5) will snatch this from me :P

  • I have it on good authority that he will try to snipe this box. 11 hours 40 minutes remaining.

As I mentioned earlier, this is quite a tempting offer, but I just bought a slightly faster VPS a few hours back on an E5 node with SSDs at a Singapore DC. This setup added a latency of ~30ms compared to the zappiehost network, but the global connectivity seems a lot better along with the I/O speeds. (Seemed like a decent trade-off as per my usage scenario)

Yes, I had every intention of sniping this box, and had communicated the same to @teamacc yesterday.

But, for what its worth, it seems like the VPS is yours @theroyalstudent unless you get outbid in the next few hours by someone else :P

Good luck to both of you @theroyalstudent & @teamacc

  • @K4Y5, you got a node in DigitalOcean SG? What provider? I'm using DO SG for serving content to a 75+% Indian audience, it has been good and runs pretty speedy. E5 + SSDs.

Thanks for the Indian VPS though, it's a good deal still, haha!

Hope no one snipes it since it's my highest possible.

Went with Dediserve this time, and it seems to perform rather well.

I had a couple of VPS with DO at SG a couple of years back, but bought a few promo VPS and moved to Leaseweb when they launched their services in SG last year.

I currently host most of my Asia centric production services with Leaseweb SG, and have been fortunate enough to have never experienced any network or hardware related issues to date. Their platform has been rock solid!

  • 45 minutes remaining.

  • Auction closed, contacting @theroyalstudent to finalize the transaction.

  • Transfer in progress (waiting on host).

    This thread can be closed.

For future generations: No, I do not have another one of these VPSses, if you want one, buy it from the host instead.
