  • Well, they did send out an email beforehand..

  • A short power maintenance is required to be performed on the circuit feeding

this rack. This will result in a power outage equaling approximately 1-2
minutes. We are able to work with you to power down and then power up your
    equipment.

Was it really of 1-2 min or more?

Still down for me. Been 30+ mins according to when uptime robot first reported it.

  • Now time to move new Provider..

  • edited February 2013

People now complain about reasonable planned maintenance imposed by upstreams?

  • Maintenance was scheduled from 2:00 - 2:30 AM PST. My VPS went down at 1:06 AM, about an hour early, so there's still 30 minutes left for the maintenance window. Just speculation, but maybe stuff was shut down early to avoid problems.

In any case, I appreciate the notice that was mailed out.

Yes.Thats what i am thinking, but it will purely depend on how long it last

To be totally blunt, a customer that makes a point of making a public complaint regarding planned outages is probably welcome to leave.

LOL OP was, obviously, joking. Anyway, I suppose the maintenance had been advanced 30 minutes - Uptime Robot mails came into my mailbox 30 minutes earlier than it should.

@klikli I cannot read your first 6 words properly due to the fight you had with those comma's, so I have no idea if your being sarcastic or meant something different.

take two KVM vps from frontrangehosting and instantservers.eu
Very bad luck with Hostigation LA location.

@azizdb it has nothing to do with luck, it was planned maintenance, what has let you down is your expectations.

  • My VPS in their "e3la11" node is still down. That's weird...

Maybe quadranet didn't gracefully shut down the nodes and now they are broken/repairing disk etc.

  • assumptions.. assumptions. Maybe the rats chewed the cables..?

  • Mine is back up (at 2:35 AM PST) after 1 hr 29 mins.

  • Yes! server up.. waiting for next outage in next month or week :P

  • @david said: Just speculation, but maybe stuff was shut down early to avoid problems.

I asked them to properly shut down the KVM nodes at least 30 minutes early, as some of the nodes are that large it takes that time to shutdown after suspending all the containers, OpenVZ is a bit better at about 10 minutes, but I did ask for the added service, some of the nodes had 425+ days of uptime, so fsck had to go after being powered back on as well.

Is that like a new record or something? :P

    Ouch.

  • Is that 2 hours outage, or just 1 - 2 minutes downtime?

  • miTgiBmiTgiB Member

When the power needs to be cut to the cabinet, I want the nodes shut down properly, that takes time, and based on last night, it took about 75 minutess to power the nodes down and bring them back for the 1-2 minutes they needed, so I padded it a tad based on last night, but they are saying they needed another 5 minutes.

I have had over a year of excellent flawless power there, and they are being pro-active, but I guess they missed something and need to go back in.

I think you have something to do for yourself than worry about others.

  • Could you let me know what kind of leaked certain detail disturb you and everyone?

  • @Jack said: you've sent the LA Maintenance email twice?

Buy more VPS and you can get more,Solus is brain dead

  • @miTgiB Is there any backup UPS system in the datacenter?

  • unusedunused Member
    edited February 2013

@azizbd he'd need his own in-rack ups to prevent against maintenance to the feed coming to the rack.

  • @azizbd said: any backup UPS system in the datacenter?

Of course there is, but that doesn't help with the task the DC is performing. I think you need to step back and take a breath, you are not paying for enterprise level service, stop acting as if you did.
