West Coast Server - gb port with loads of bandwidth

Hi,

I need a high bandwidth VPS or server with decent processing power and gbps port.

I also would ideally need it in Seattle or at the absolute worst, LA.

I had to move to an area with slow internet and need to bond my two slower connects, since I live in Vancouver, Canada, I want something close to home.

The software I will be using runs on Centos but encrypts all the traffic, so if I go the VPS route, there would be high CPU usage.

As far as bandwidth goes, I use anywhere from 3-6TB a month at home, which means I would need double on the bonding server. As such I would require atleast 10TB, higher if possible.

Since I am bonding 2*50mbps connections with 10mbps up each, I need a reliable download speed of at least 120mbps, but ideally 150mbps up and down or a actual gb port.

So basically my minimum requirment is:
4GB RAM
4vCPU+ with the ability to utilize all of them
25 GB HDD (does not really matter)
minimum 150mbps port (up and down)
10TB BW +
Ideally in Seattle WA, Vancouver BC, or LA

My budget would be $25/month USD for a VPS or $45/month for dedicated.

Anyone have any ideas?

You must not realize Montreal is east and Vancouver is west.

Sorry, no, I didn't realize that. I guess I thought Canada was smaller than it is.

Maybe @johnchun or @gm5 may have something for you in the dedicated server side. They have been great for me. No issues at all in the 2 months i been using them.

Sounds solid, have a test IP and file?

Haha it's a big ol' popsicle with awful internet out west. I almost colo'd a box in a local data centre but my bandwidth usage would have cost me more then the cage.

  • @qps have some i3s in LA with reasonable price, 29.99 IIRC, 20TB@gbps 8GB ram and 1TB HDD, and they have good uptime.

    Thanks.

Hey, just checked it out. I see $39.99, I would scoop one of those up, or go to the next tier if the price was $29.99 or $39.99 for the tier up.

Is there a promo code @qps or is it a typo @msg7086 ?

Sorry @HOSTBD24, need a hair more bandwidth than 100Mbps.

  • @adamskalicky we have 10TB @ 1Gbps bandwidth included with our dedicated server plans. If it's enough for you then i can a good deal for you.

I believe it's their long term promo. Whenever I asked them the price, they always told me it's 29 not 39. Not sure if it has changed, but never hurt to ask.

Nice find @simonindia. Pretty spot on in my books. Do you or anyone on this thread have experience with #serverstadium?

  • @adamskalicky I'd avoid the last couple recommendations, also in Vancouver and have pretty much tried every low end provider on the west coast.

My pick for speed + solid Shaw/Telus routes (that are direct and don't get bogged down during peak hours) would be Incero, specifically the Seattle location. You can check out their VPS product here: https://wable.com/ - well within budget. Google 'wable powerboost' and there's a link for the $8 plan to get like double the specs.

Stay as far away as you can. Mobile right now so can't find specifics, but nothing good will come of it.

They've made up ddos attacks, booted me with less than 3 hours notice without refund (wtf?) and to this day (2 years+??) My ticket remains unanswered. To top it off, they have it hidden from client view so I can't get any pictures of it and I only have email evidence that the ticket existed...

They're still hanging around on these forums and might try to convince you that they've changed, but I assure you nothing good will come out of it.

+1 for Incero's Seattle location. I have had many clients from Canada who use it for its great connection to Canada.

One of the reasons I also have a plan with you :) Sorry I forgot you guys there...

@adamskalicky be sure to check out ImpactVPS as well. They use Incero's Seattle location.

Core i3 is $29.99 on promotion, but is currently out of stock. However, X3470 is available at $39.99 on promotion.

We also have a Dual Xeon L5420 at $39.99 on promotion.

  • I would prefer impact vps over wable, just for the peace of mind, if not for anything else.
