BuyVM stock?

pubcrawlerpubcrawler Banned
edited January 2013 in General

Anyone seen any new BuyVM stock released since the Vegas move?

If not any planned release time? In the market for an annual plan in Buffalo and waiting on new storage in Vegas to become available.

@Francisco, what's the timeline?

They had stock yesterday but had to remove it due to Paypal API issues.
Today new stock will be added is what I've been told on IRC.
The paypal API issue was resolved yesterday.

0 vswap memory... It's so sad

Can I get the VPS 256+0swap to 128+128swap?

  • I doubt you can get any mods to the plan except the buy addons for more data transfer.

Why the wanting to swap RAM?

  • @Zeno said: 0 vswap memory... It's so sad

They don't do vswap, they don't use the 2.6.32 kernels where it was added (because they have had instability issues with them so far).

vSwap is still unstable on high capacity nodes, thus incompatible with BuyVM's setup right now.

  • Out of the annual plans in Buffalo already.

There were only 3 when I noticed stock though.

21 annual plans available in Vegas still.

Java need swap memory to compile
So no swap vps need additional configuration ,But I dont know how to do it :(

  • I dont think they have vswap. I believe they dont feel those are stable enough.

Try KVM boss. THey have some on stock.

I've got one that I don't need anymore if anyone wants it. Still 7 months left. Happy to part with it for $6 via Paypal if BuyVM is ok with it.

  • @Zeno said: Java need swap memory to compile

Java still runs without VSwap - just takes more memory. You might need to configure the JVM to reduce memory usage.

  • Is it a rule amongst providers here that you must have a VPS on the competitions boxes @concerto49? :) Real common around here.

  • @concerto49 @jcaleb
I will try,KVM(256m plan) and Java runs without Swap
    Thanks a lot everybody! :))

Don't know about others but I think the moment you stop being a customer, you're unfit to be a provider ;)

  • Cute @jarland, cute.

@concerto49 Ill take it if pubcrawler doesn't and if Fran is OK with it :)

  • Go ahead BK_!

I bought mine direct earlier when the stock became available.

I got it before I was a provider. Explained?

    Sure.

    @Francisco are we ok?

  • It's all good @concerto49 :) Just a funny observation about providers all buying from one another.

    So true...
As for the stock being removed due to paypal troubles... I think Francisco should sacrifice some virgins to Lord Murphy...

What Java App will you run?

Eh the issue wasn't just for us, everyone, including you my friend, were suffering IPN issues yesterday :)

It wasn't worth it to try to keep stock open and having Aldryic add every single payment. In the end it'd just have pissed off a lot of uninformed clients thinking we're trying to scam them.

To add to the vswap comments:

As many others have pointed out (Tim, Sal, Mao, etc), there is by no means a .32 kernel that 'fits all nodes'. You end up having to spend a lot of time trying to figure out what kernel doesn't make that specific node go tits up.

We have 90 some odd OVZ nodes so that's a chore to say the least and simply way too stressful on the clients.

  • @jcaleb Did not do anything, Just type javac:

    free -m
total used free shared buffers cached
    Mem: 256 3 252 0 0 0
    -/+ buffers/cache: 3 252
    Swap: 0 0 0

Used 3mb memory, Then type javac -version:

    javac -version

I google it, and then try:

I think this is not the fault of the BuyVM

I should do more research on it
