[COLO] 1U In the UK required!

Hi,

Looking to colo a small 1U node, unsure on power draw but expect under 4Amp. Rolling monthly preferred, IPKVM where possible / some form of remote reboot option.

Gbit Preferred, <10TB usage.

Locations: Any UK.

Budget: ~£20/m

4A is a LOT. You'll need to narrow your power requirements a bit.

  • I suspect with SSD's over the conventional disk it'll be <1.5, but I haven't decided on what I'm getting.

The budget is tight, I know, it's a long shot.

Considering your budget, get something which draws very little power, certainly not more than 1A.

  • Hey,
We can do 1U Shared Colo in Manchester.

    1U Rack Space, 0.5A @ 240v, /32, 10TB Bandwidth @ 1Gb/s Price £30 per month.

Free helping hands and temp kvm (this can be made permanent for £5/mo or you can supply your own).

I don't think Clouvider can offer it at £20/mo... At least not with 4A...

I'm just stating the obvious... You won't get 4A in UK for Colo @ £20/mo... It's just not doable.

RedStation did for a very very short period (2 weeks) if I recall.

This has to be the most ironic statement I've read in quite some time...

  • You need to seriously raise your budget..

A min of £60 is really needed plus majority of it is 100mbps..

  • Just to expand on my offer as well, the first month is free.

So why people need to care with your request if you don't care with theirs?

  • @Jacob's offer is really good and probably about the best you'll get.

@eastonch Work out your actual power requirements and then you can get a far more accurate quote? Or tell people the hardware you use and people can comment.

    inb4 - I don't like you, don't quote me.

Ugh, alright guys. Drop your pants, grab the tape measure, meet me behind the building.

In that order. Hop if you have to.

    Thanks for mentioning @HOSTBD24 @NexHost

@eastonch @IThinkUFailed is right here, it's not possible, simple as that.

4Amps = 0.92 kw, so monthly assuming month to have 720 hours that is 662.4kWh. Assume 9 pence per kWh that's £59.62 for the power alone, no cooling, add cooling (PUE 1.3) and it brings you to £77.50 and you'll find no one, no one who will sell you at this rate as keeping a datacentre online is not only about heaving power that I've calculated above, it's also maintenance and upkeep of the facility and the profit that has to cover the huge CAPEX invested to build the facility.

In other words @eastonch either check how much power you need, or if that's the right number increase your budget to at least £300 - £400 to get some viable options, at which point I'd recommend you to go into 1/4 rack instead of a single server colo 'because you can' and because it gives you better separation from other machines.
