  • @tommy what do you mean different? it is the exact same ???

  • It's impossible to get a dedicated server in Asia on that budget, you need to increase your budget due to expensive bandwidth and power costs.

Don't use leaseweb SG, completely useless.

  • @tommy I think that's CBN load balanced routing (outside Dediserve power), I got a different route doing another trace to detik.com:

Here's a couple of traces run sequentially:

traceroute to 203.190.241.43 (203.190.241.43), 30 hops max, 60 byte packets

  • @robohost I think the network might be saturated after some time ... let's hope it won't :)

  • Looking at traceroute to google, it goes to pakistan and travel around the globe.

Not terrible likely, we're currently running 10gbps to local peers and 10gbps to our Singapore cross connect and 10Gbps to local transit/

I have been in the hosting business 6 years, I can honestly say that leaseweb support is by far the worst I have ever experienced, don't get me wrong when you do get a reply it is sometimes within 24 hours (on a paid 4 hour SLA) however the response is almost always pointless.

On top of that the network is so poor its a joke, some Singapore to Singapore routes go via Hong Kong for example.

Leaseweb will be the next BurstNET, stuck in the 90's with no idea how to evolve, they used to be great now they are poor.

Additionally when you get up close and personal with the hardware as someone who spent years at HP I can tell you they have gone above and beyond to cheap out as much as possible, putting p410's with 256mb and no battery on 12 disk back plates (against vendor recommendations) you have to ask for something that cheap.

Despite constant feedback which is entirely ignored and responses to support tickets that boarder on insulting because they are so ridiculous you will get emails from them constantly telling you that customers feed back is very important and asking you to do servers which are again... ignored.

Pre-sales don't know what they are doing, it took 8 attempts just to confirm they have IPv6 in Singapore and that was only because I emailed the Ops manager directly, none of the sales and sadly all 1st and 2nd line support had no idea they had IPv6.

When I had an IPv6 issue it took 3 days to get someone to acknowledge they have IPv6 (they allocated it).

the whole thing is like getting slowly driven insane, just avoid them.

@dediserve fix routing to Google? It goes around the world (ID -> SG -> US - > UK -> FR -> PK)? Looks like the problem is not with routing but with DNS resolution, for some reason, Google think that the IP is in Pakistan or around that area? Normally ID IP should geolocate to Google SG DC.

Newmediaexpress is doing that (route optimization) at the moment, I believe. (id1.newmediaexpress.com)

Just try lg.he.net (IX and SG) or lg.mohonmaaf.com (for IIX/local)

But I don't know know if they all will get through with this "sort of thing" as the ASN is Indonesia, but not the IP peers. (gw denger sih IP - IP diluar IDNIC, diblokir sama APJII, maka routing bisa muter2. klo dia dahulukan routing sini, routing SG dan US nya ngaco, kalau dia dahulukan routing IX, routing IIX nya yang ngaco. ).

Already WhatsApp Alan... ;) We might be in partnership, as Alan doesn't have the license to do the ISP.

I've had nothing but great experiences with their support, Leaseweb USA has always responded to my tickets in under 1 hour on their Free SLA. On my last order with them (just for a VPS) they called me an hour or so after I got it just to ask if I was happy with the performance and to thank me for purchasing.

  • My singapore vps is running pretty well although support isn't the fastest thats for sure.

I was searching around BGP peers in IIX and OpenIXP still couldn't find ASN134451 there, @dediserve, you could ask CBN to advertise your ASN to local loop. But I don't think it could work well as CBN's ASN4787 is idling (not advertising any peers) at the moment. That would be the problem pal.
PS: CBN has 3 ASN. Only 1 is idling, while the others is 'inactive' in IIX or OpenIXP ;( (But I think the route is going better now).
