USA, not so much, but more than Europe - Dr. is not much used here, but most Ing.'s are listing it everywhere.
Africa, Asia and South America - Yes, very much. It is a huge insult to not use it when you speak to someone in Africa even.
For me, it just seems like a boast and the desperate try to seem more trustworthy. You think that a doctor from South America would register himself using his academic grade on an internet forum focussed on cheap VMs? I do not.
But well then. Different countries, different habits.
Yours,
Dr. iur. Amitz
There are hundreds/thousands of facebook/gmail accounts from SEA, having Dr/Er (for engineer) as a prefix.
Titles are for pompous snobs. Why do you think the nobility liked them so much?
Notice the change in technique for his posts. Initially a blob of text, and then proper paragraphs.
In any case I still give a ton of kudos to @ernie for fixing my three years of problems that were unresolved due to the former @CVPS_chris.
I had a server in CC Buffalo, and I could tell that something was up with the network. I noticed higher latencies (30ms more or so). It didnt affect me as the server was idle at that time.
Reads like someone else wrote it..
Smells like @jbiloh lol kidding calm down.
Thank you and thank you for the review we still have a ton of work to do but are making progress.
It's not snob when it is used in a proper time and place such as academic environment and you are a lecture there, professional symposium, professional website like LinkedIn.
A title from an unpublished / academically unverifiable sounds like the junk emails I received from Nigerian Scammers alike.
Truth be told, I am also a customer of cvps and never had major issues. Sure there were some network blips, once or twice a host reboot and mm didnt come back on automatically but it wasnt the worst I have come across. I think I have been one of the lucky ones for quite a few years. So I can believe OP on his review but clearly the brand has taken quite a hit and there is going to be a stigma attached to it until more positive reviews come into play.
It's going to take time and hard work to turn the public opinion but we are committed to making that happen.
ChicagoVPS any good windows VPS (6GB or 8 GB) offers for this thanksgiving?
Bandwidth limits ok!
Noooooo :-O

@Amitz Medicum or medical doctor.
I have a good old friend who used to lurk here, a whole bunch of critics crazy tin-foil-hat that I love so much, @drmike
Dang! I miss his enlightenments.
If it's a trying like the stuff he posts on VPSBoard, please, we can only take so much
There are actually two drmike, one at LE* and one at VPSBoard :P
Dang! Sorry @OP, @mpkossen, @jarland for derailing a bit. I should have post this in The Cest Pit. I think I forgot to take off my tin-foil-hat :P
You're a Doctor?
Different person than the original drmike.
The original was a very troubled chap as I recall.
The new one's pretty funny, up to the point he becomes really annoying.
Yep.
Only when he wears his tin-foil-hat. Apart from that he is a caring guy.
I'm sure he is, but I only have the tinfoil hat stuff to go on.
Yes. I studied Law (made the Dr. there) and Business Administration. I am also a certified Pest Controller, as funny and odd as this might sound. You can still just call me Amitz. ;-)
Not gonna. From now on it's Pest Controller Amitz.
It was not as spectacular as porn, but I was young and needed the money... ;-)
I found and exterminated more bugs in life than most programmers here, I guess.
He he he, that what's make life interesting :P
What I've learned from life, when you like somebody, don't give it 100%. Spare 10% for you, 10% for your mom, 10% for your spouse. The same way goes when you dislike somebody, don't give it 100%. Spare 10% for you, 10% for your mom, 10% for your spouse
That way, you might loose your virginity, but you won't loose your dignity :P
