Moscow based DC with 1Gbps link, not all hosts around China gave same speed, varies from 2Mbps to 10Mbps.

  • Speedtest servers in China should be taken with a grain of salt, it's as everywhere colocated HW and BW (especially oversubscription on FTTC/ADSL deployments, even more so on 2.5/3/4G) differs from endusers.

  • right now is a terrible time to check speed as people are sleeping, even san jose usa gives me 51/4. Try again in 18 hours and you will see a difference compare to yoru past results.

The only exception to this is HK link which most of the time I will max out the link they provide and sustainable, however unless you put your house in mortgage you will most likely end up with a 2-3mbit package.

Just wondering how can you tell if a connection goes thru beijing. I'm in Shanghai and all outboundary connections goes thru Shanghai Telecom main exit (seen in MTR result).

Rebalancing is the nasty thing, so I can only say currently CN2 has the most consistent performance for CT (<2% loss at peak time), if not considering commercial private links.

Probably Shanghai telecom has only 1mbps link to Russia :)

Usual down speed to Linode JP is 10-20mbps off-peak time and 5mbps peak time.

  • Too bad they are limiting the amount of CN2 you can buy and the amount they will sell until they finish further upgrades, and they are asking $90/Mbps lol

That's pretty cheap already. It's China bandwidth.

  • There are some good VPS provider in chinese mainland ,such as aliyun and tencentyun .They are two of the best VPS provider in China. But you should know you must acquire an ICP license from the chinese government before you start your website. It may be a lot of paperwork.
And if you choose the VPS in Hongkong, you don't need to acquire an ICP ,and the speed is very friendly to Chinese mainland users.

  • any asia country direct to china only subjected to best effort basic. No one can guarantee the performance. If you are not plan to put a high budget on china bandwidth, i am advise you don't put any hope on this.
