@Scottsman - You are not charged for reinstalling the original O/S, but you are in the wrong place. You are placing an order for more services. On the page before click the reset button to reinstall the original O/S. No charge.

If anyone wants Centos 6, you might want to try my template (should work) as below:

    http://dl.fs5.co.uk/Centos6.6.gz

    Default root password is Password561

    Enjoy

Edit: use joodles method / rescue system with this template to install.

LOL - blatant rip off charging people to reinstall their systems. You should be free to reinstall your system at will and with any common distros.

  • @FrankZ no i'm just in the my subscriptions area.
i just got an email from ikoula:
Your server may ping but it is not totally ready by now. You should wait until you receive your credentials.
You will probably receive a mail in the next 48h when your server will be ready.
    @MarkTurner
i think i read somewhere on this thread that they are waiving that fee, nonetheless its still a rip off.

So, the funny sequence of actions:

    1. I placed order while servers were available and paid for it.

    2. I haven't received request from Sales about sending them ID.

    3. Now I am told the offer is out of stock. Either wait for a new promotion (no one says it will be that cost-effective), or get refund.

Please explain me ikoula how the above can be possible under normal circumstances?

I got one of their last offers (the $4.99 1TB one) and I wasn't asked for ID until a month later after I payed for a renewal.

(shrugging shoulders) Perhaps that's done on per customer basis. In any case, no news after my having sent ID data.

  • Several minutes ago I have received request from Ikoula to send them ID data (scanned photo of government document and phone number).

Funny thing is I have already done that 9 hours ago, in response to exactly the same email from Ikoula.

I wonder how many times I will do that.

I think one is from [email protected] and the other is from [email protected]. you should send the documents to both emails.

Wrong. Both came from [email protected]. The same email, sent twice.

I answered both in 2-3 minutes. I begin admiring the show, even if it ends in smoke. I thought OVH are the only good showmen of this kind, but perhaps I am mistaken.

At least I got service out of OVH though.. they're not perfect, but OVH seemed more consistent.

It seems like no one is running ikoula at all.. there' just a sales rep here that can't do much.

  • Online.net much better

Well the sales rep from LET told me to email both so after my initial order I received mail from sales with my order number to which I replied and included my verification documents.. can't recall but maybe the day after I got email from verification requesting my documents as well so I complied and sent it again just as the sales rep instructed me to do..

There is really no point in getting upset over it.. It's budget hosting I thought we all at LET are use to.. each host seems to have their quirks.. OVH - weeks for validation, online.net - cancellation before the 20'th, ikolua - disorganized verification process.. I think it's a French thing maybe.

    Online.net much better

Don't get me wrong my Dedibox is awesome and I really like the panel.. But when they provisioned my server it actually came with a bad drive, which leads me to believe they don't test the hardware prior to delivering servers to the clients which ended up being another two days gone waiting for a replacement.. So they all have their plus and minuses.

The thing with OVH is, they don't feel the need to be accountable for their actions, every decision seems to be based on whim or what ever Oles feels like that day.

I recalled getting in on their Atom and i3 deal and after I paid they went and change the terms and strictly made it for residence of Europe only.. It took them a month to refund my money at which time I actually lost money due to the exchange rate!

And don't forget they made everybody get re-validated again cause they decided they want to make a new website.. That was fun!

But you know what they're cheap!! and I'm a cheapskate so I put up with their BS.

Oh and I almost forgot.. How long did OVH take to deliver those servers.. It was more than a month I think close to 3 months if I recalled correctly.

I suppose that some kind of logic is still expected, when dealing with host.

What is actually seen looks like Chaos pristine, when no one can tell anything definite. I will not be surprised if they request another validation. Just for fun.

And that's the dilemma.. how much BS are you willing to take before you say it's just not worth it! which is up to you..

For me it's pretty relative. The better the deal the better my patience.. A lot can be forgiven if the price is right!

I will wait till the end of show. It would be a shame just to quit so early!

After dealing with OVH, no amount of chaos can actually discourage me. They are excellent host for those wishing to develop philosophical attitude towards mundane ado.

I just remembered volumedrive was selling servers with similar specs and they were charging $29.99 while ikoula's is priced at $12.99..

They're cheaper than volumedrive for crying out loud!!

...if you are lucky enough to order and receive what you have paid for.
