Nice, now all you need is some decent security and stability.
Most of the ATMs run on WinXP and are quite stable and secure.
Would love to see a reference to that. I know wikipedia says that but it's not cited.

I think *NIX systems are starting to replace them in the UK. After all Windows did cause the stock market crash.
If I search for that I just get results for people jumping out of windows because of the stock marked crash in 1929.
@kylix in your references you forgot, IMHO:

@Steve81: Well, that's quite a different topic, isn't it?
@kylix: Not so much. Was just a natural follow-up, IMO, of your 2nd link (the pc world article).
@Steve81: Well, having direct access to the hardware always makes things quite easy.
@kylix: the tecnique that need direct access is just the first one mentioned in the article, the second one is a remote hack.
Well I'm not defending any use of Windows here. I'm not earning money with Windows. But one has to keep in mind, that most vulnerabilities of Windows occur because of deactivation of the original authorization system based on inheritance.
Vulnerabilities happen. It's just the same case with the numerous OpenSSH vulnerabilities that are faced with the Debian versions from month to month. Or with the default install from a Live-CD-Ubuntu (or how it was back in the days).
